We were attracted to this restaurant as I saw a separate section for vegetarian dishes — not typical in a Mexican restaurant. We ordered a variety of dishes —they were all tasty and filled with a good helping of veggies, though bland for our taste. The flight of margaritas were delightful. Service was good thou not overly friendly; they forgot the beans till we asked for them but gladly bought them out. They also added gratuity to our bill without telling us — unusual for a part of five.

We drove an hour to try this restaurant because it had really good reviews. We were very disappointed. The food was very overpriced for the taste. None of us loved our food and we each paid 30-45 per person. The service was slow even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. I definitely won’t be coming back here and I’m very disappointed because I wanted to love it. We did really enjoy the live music and the staff was very nice.

Sol Agave in San Clemente is an upscale Mexican restaurant with fresh, flavorful dishes, standout margaritas, and a lively yet comfortable coastal atmosphere that works well for date nights or special occasions.Portions are generous and beautifully presented, and the complimentary chips with salsa and bean dip make a great start to the meal. Prices are on the higher side but mostly feel reasonable for the quality, though some appetizers can seem a bit expensive Occasional slow service and a few dishes that could use bolder seasoning keep it at a strong four stars rather than a perfect five, but it remains a spot worth recommending and revisiting. also paid attention on your bill. A really nice find. The service here is top-notch, and the food is very good. I had the 4-taco plate; the flavors were great, with the carnitas being the only one that was a bit dry. Still, a great experience and I would definitely come back.

I love Sol Agave ! First of all the best waiter- Carlos!! My favorite dish - Chicken Tortilla Soup!!! So hearty, healthy, delicious and with ingredients that take me back to the motherland....
The house margaritas is sublime! We had Mezcal shots , smokey and warmed my insides. Great place, great food!

Nice atmosphere

I’m a regular at Sol Agave San Clemente. First off, Alex, one of the partners and chefs, is incredibly hospitable. Every time I come he always offers the table tequila shots! We sometimes have to insist that we’re too toasty to have another drink!

The chili verde is incredible, super moist and well seasoned. I wrap the food in a flour tortilla and it’s delicious.

The butter cake (pictured) is one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. I wish I were kidding lol
