That Friday night crew behind the bar is something else. They are literally talking amongst each other, socializing and watching TV. I watched two couples come to the bar sit down, not get service get up and leave. Prices are too high to be having service like that. After being such a longtime customer all these years, I’ll be hesitant to come back for a while, especially on Friday nights. Management, tighten things up.

This is like high end Mexican fusion, think on the level of Javier's but without the huge wait. This is not traditional Mexican food and is very expensive. Look to spend over $20 for just a one item combo. Probably wouldn't come back but it's really good nonetheless.

The best spot in San Clemente. Can't beat the food or service. Had the sea bass and shrimp diablo. The butter cake is perfection.
I have never ever been to a restaurant from the most expensive to the least where you cannot get the dressing on the side when you order a salad. Absolutely unacceptable for dietary reasons. I know my one patronage won’t matter but I will never go to this chain again.
Thank you thank you thank you to all the team at South of Nick’s for a fantastic dinner and 250th Marine Corps Birthday for our party with four Marines in our group! The service was stellar and the birthday desserts were an added bonus! We will be back for many more celebrations in the future!

There is a reason it's hard to get a reservation at Nick's South.... it's because it's fantastic. Great food, great margaritas, great ambiance and great service. The sea bass is the best anywhere!
We’ve eaten here many many times over the years. However. I actually looked at the prices this time. And. Chances are really good we won’t be back soon. Absolutely ridiculous. Soup. Salad no drinks but water. 37$ before a tip. Not gonna pay it going forward.

Had our anniversary here and it was excellent! Thanks for a great evening especially to Monique our server! Will be back!
We always enjoy our meals at South of Nicks. The location is so beautiful and the food is fantastic. The service was excellent and the Butter Cake was - as always - the star of the meal!
Amazing food, phenomenal ambience when you get sat on the left side of the restaurant where the long, active bar and kitchen. Margaritas are top notch. The bean dip with the complementary chips are nails...so good! Wait staff is always friendly. Try not to get sat on the right side of the restaurant where the bathrooms are...it's pretty dead.
We had such a great time at the San Clemente location! Drinks were delicious and the food came out so quick! Highly recommend this spot for any newcomers!
I ordered the taco combo plate. The taco was barely a 2 inch diameter with a handful of small chicken cubes....once folded, two bites max. The ultra-processed refried beans were not edible and the rice was cold. My friend however had the chicken tortilla soup which she enjoyed. Our server was efficient and friendly.
