Delicious poor over coffee and salad. Perfect lunch while on break from meeting at convention center.

My name is Bruce. This is one of my favorite coffeehouses in all of San Diego. I love the place. It's very relaxed and low key. The service and friendliness of the staff are great. It's in a great location for people watching. It's very dog friendly as well. And they make sure to memorize the names of the regular customers. It can get crowded, due to the convention center visitors coming over.

Fancy menu descriptions, mediocre quality ingredients. Coffee is meh. Heirloom tomatoes are actually just woody hot house, and mixed greens are actually a pile of Walmart spinach.
I ordered a large Tanzania pour-over and rather than use an appropriate amount of coffee for the larger size, they just poured more hot water into the cup, making it really weak. Despite ordering in, they also put it in a paper cup. I know the owner has mentioned that we're supposed to have them redo it if we're not happy, but come on. Make it well on the first place! I'm paying premium prices for a better coffee. Show me you care. Wow me.

Really nice place. I had their PSL and the flavor was clearly homemade. The espresso they used paired well and was roasted nicely.

Best pour-over coffee I've ever had. I ordered the Achilles scramble with a cup of the Ethiopian pour-over and enjoyed it so much I got a Mexico Decaf pour-over to go. I'll be stopping in again during my stay in San Diego.

The place is pricy! I ordered The Cove and for $14, there should be more than 2 thin slices of lox. I get that inflation is a problem for everyone and businesses still need to make a profit but still. They missed the mark on finding a balance that doesn’t harm the customer experience. They do have a sign up that if you give a positive review and post a picture, you get a $20 gift card. Something to keep in mind when reading all these 5 star reviews….The latte was delicious and competitively priced :)

Service was incredibly poor today. There was no line when I entered so I ordered a pour over. After not seeing the drink made for several minutes and while subsequent customers received their food and drink orders, I was told by the girl who took my order that she 'noticed they forgot'. I declined the offer to have an Americano instead and when was served my now-rushed coffee, it was very watered down and extremely disappointing. I have had pleasant experiences here in the past but today was not one.

According to “Chad” the CEO, it’s against company policy to make iced pour over…
A) Why do you care if a customer wants pour over iced?
B) It is such an old school ideal that pour over isn’t good when iced, which is completely false. There are effective brew methods to account for excess volume from the ice. Plenty of the best roasters in the world make iced pour over.
C) The baristas seemed annoyed when I asked for a cup of ice to pour it into after they told me they wouldn’t make it iced for me.
Overall I’m super disappointed with the management of the company, the beans are overpriced for the roast quality (and I’m usually happy to pay $30-40/lb of quality specialty coffee), and the atmosphere is mid.

Pleasant service and great vibe. Unfortunately, both of my pourovers were disappointing on the two visits I made this week. The second was prepared without a scale and ignored for long periods--far longer than appropriate between pours. It just sat there, cooling off and neglected while the barista was (understandably) busy making other drinks. You just can't do proper pourover when you have a single person preparing espresso, shaken drinks, pourovers, and every other drink, all while also handling all ordering and payment. Everything else was pleasant, though.
