Closed at 5pm during summer nightime hours. Ruined my evening plans. Whats the point of hqving a restaurant and summertime hours if you close the restaurant before dinner?!?

Alberts is an awesome restaurant hidden within San Diego zoo. We enjoyed the awsome food.

We did not expect great food at the zoo, but Albert’s far exceeded expectations. Each of the 4 adults got something different and each one raved about how good their food was.

Albert's is a go to for my zoo trip. The food is top notch and the service is excellent. I recommend the steak frites! The steak was perfect and a potato wedges were perfect! Vania was our server and she was amazing!

We've eaten here a few times now and unfortunately this latest visit didn't deliver. Despite making a reservation a few months ago, our group of 6 was squeezed into a table meant for 4. Service was minimal. It took a few reminders to get one of the drinks for our table. I do think Albert's is a great spot to refresh during a day at the zoo. I like the full service experience and we all enjoyed our meals.

we've been going to albert's for 8 years in a row now and my wife and i noticed the quality getting worse and worse year after year. the last visit, the service was incredibly slow. the fries were cold and soggy. my wife's steak salad was $30 and looked like it came out of a middle school lunch cafe. the hot chicken sandwich looked good but it was so bland that i hate to drench it with ranch and hot sauce. pretty disappointed that we paid $200 for a family of four for this food and service.

My husband and I booked a 1:00 lunch and waited for an outdoor patio table so we could see the waterfall and it was much quieter. I lived my flat iron steak salad!!! It was outstanding. My husband had steak tacos and fries. The exotic cocktails and wine and beer looked fun but we opted for the tea. Great service and lovely setting!! Nice breeze on a hot day.

The best thing about Albert's is that it is a table service restaurantin the San Diego Zoo. The prices are on the high side and the current menu doesn't offer much to choose from if all you want is a simple lunch. On my last visit, my guest ordered a Brussel Sprout appetizer which had a $19 price and a portion large enough to serve four people rather than the two of us. It was ok but not memorable. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken and there wasn't a whole lot of chicken on it. The bottom line is that it's convenient and pleasant and perhaps that makes it worth the cost (with a Zoom member discount) but it could be considered a big expense for a family. I feel they need to have a couple of straightforward sandwiches on the menu with a price of perhaps $20+ including fries or a small salad. I would have ordered the tuna sandwhich except it was a tuna melt.

This was our second time here and it was not enjoyable. The host was not kind. It took significantly longer then quoted to get sat. Food took a very long time. Kids food was very bland. Overall not a good experience.

I recently dined at this establishment and was disappointed to learn that I would be charged $17 for ordering a kids menu item simply because I am an adult. While I understand that restaurants may have certain policies, I believe this one is both unfair and short-sighted.

The portion I received was clearly child-sized—significantly smaller than a standard adult meal—yet I was charged the equivalent of an adult entrée. What’s especially troubling is the lack of consideration for adults who require or prefer smaller portions for legitimate reasons. Many adults are managing chronic illnesses, undergoing medical treatments such as chemotherapy, or have dietary restrictions and allergies that make smaller, simpler meals more appropriate. Others simply may not have the appetite for full-sized portions.

It’s disappointing that instead of showing flexibility or understanding, the restaurant’s policy seems to prioritize revenue over customer care. A more thoughtful approach would go a long way in accommodating all guests fairly and with dignity.

This isn’t a fine dining establishment—it’s a casual, family-oriented venue within a zoo, where flexibility and inclusivity should be a priority. In a setting designed for families and guests of all ages, policies like this feel out of touch.

I hope the management reconsiders this policy in the future to create a more inclusive and considerate dining experience.

An oasis hidden in the San Diego Zoo. We were there at 11:15 on a Sunday and it was perfect. The brunch menu was available in addition to the regular menu, up until 12pm. We loved our queso birria tacos and crispy rice with ahi tuna. Service was excellent too.
