I had an beyond embarrassing encounter with one of the bartenders and As mad as I still am I will say mr Trent handled the situation extremely well He could have brushed me off told me to call tomorrow etc. But instead he heard me out and did the best he could in the moment and I truly do appreciate that.

Dude Ryan is the best!! He didn’t pour too heavy or anything (appreciated, I’m not trying to die tonight lol) but he had the best personality, it was super busy and he was jamming, taking really good care of everyone. As a fellow bartender, I really appreciate his attitude and vibe. He did upsell a bit, but he was so cool that I didn’t mind and got the expensive liquor. I never do that!!!

Witnessed a security guard attack someone unprompted when they were just waiting outside. Nasty owners who don’t care you can see it in their replies to the reviews lol someone talked about a different situation where their security guards attacked someone and they said “not sure what you’re trying to say” as if they didn’t clearly describe the situation with timestamps!
Hopefully nearby bars caught footage so they don’t get in trouble because the security guards totally blamed it on them. These guys act like police officers and use heavy violent force when people are just standing outside their establishment. They ruin the downtown fun vibe.

Cool spot but the girl taking cover last night scammed me and thought I didn’t notice. Gave her a $50 to pay for my own cover and got 2 $20s back. Then I decided to pay for my friend to get in by giving her one of the $20s and refused to give me a $10 back.
Disappointing Experience Despite a Promising Atmosphere
We visited American Junkie in San Diego during an always ongoing home game from the Padres, expecting a lively and fun sports bar experience. The place was quite empty, which made the lack of service even more frustrating.
The security at the entrance was friendly and let us in without issue, and we were told to seat ourselves, possibly the first mistake. We chose a table right next to the register, clearly visible to staff. Despite asking if we could be served, no one ever came to our table.
We waited for over 15 minutes while multiple servers stood around the register, some scrolling on their phones for several minutes at a time. Not one of them acknowledged us or offered any kind of service. Eventually, we just left hungry and disappointed.
It’s a real shame because the atmosphere seemed nice and we genuinely wanted to eat and enjoy the game there. Sadly, the total lack of service ruined the experience. Would not recommend based on this visit.

American Junkie never misses! Huge shoutout to Alexa behind the bar — straight up an all-star. Kept the drinks flowing and the energy high all night. The music? 🔥FIRE🔥 . Big props to DJ Wubbzy (Issac) for dropping banger after banger — had the whole floor moving. (On a Tuesday)
Props to Mario & Ryan on barback duty keeping it tight, and to Tim & Valeria for the good vibes. Even the security guard was cool and professional — rare to see that kind of hospitality front to back.
From the Padres flag overhead to the party wheel and neon lights, the whole place runs like a well-oiled San Diego nightlife machine. Junkie’s got the formula.
Certified downtown gem. I’ll be back. 💯
