We had a great experience at Anjappar. Ramesh made us feel really welcome and his service added a personal touch to the meal. The food was outstanding! The mutton bone soup was rich and flavorful, the chicken 65 was crisp, well-spiced, and full of flavor, and the mutton biryani stood out with fresh, tender pieces of mutton cooked perfectly. Honestly, the flavors here felt even better than what I’ve tried at Anjappar in Chennai. A spot I’d happily return to for authentic, satisfying food and warm service.

Both the food and service were terrible. I ordered Rava dosa, and it had the texture of a rumali roti. No hint of crispiness. The chutneys were terrible at well. The idly was very rubbery. My friend ordered mutton biryani, and it was soggy and flavorless. Had exactly 3 small pieces of mutton. The only item that was good was the Malabar parotta we ordered.

The service was the worst it could be. The lady serving us didn't bother to give us glasses for water. Even after asking for them, she didn't bring them immediately - they came only after my friend had a coughing fit. We had to flag her down for everything - to take the order, to get water, to get a box, to pay.

I have been to Anjappar in the bay area. The food and the service there are amazing. If I rate that restaurant 5 stars, I will have to rate this one 2 stars.

We really like Anjappar for the fantastic service, food and offering - they are very proactive with recommending based on our preferences, and what is fresh.

We drove two hours just to try the Goat Biryani and it was absolutely worth it! 🤩The aroma, flavor, and tenderness of the meat were out of the world. If you're thinking twice about the drive - don’t. One bite, and you'll know it was the right decision.
The ambience and the authenticity of the food only added to the experience.
We’ll definitely be coming back again and again.

We’ve been to Anjappar locations in Artesia and Tustin, but the San Diego branch truly stands out as the best.
From the flavor to the freshness, everything exceeded our expectations.

Not really a anjappar food or menu. Which would be okay if the food is good. Not worth the money especially when you can’t meet anjappar quality.

I just have to share my amazing experience at this restaurant! The customer service was top-notch! The owner was super friendly and really took the time to help me and my shipmates choose some delicious food that was a little different from what we usually eat. I tried the Lamb Kuruma, and oh my goodness, it was so tender and smothered in a rich, flavorful sauce, all served with fluffy white rice. We also sipped on some lovely red wine that paired perfectly with our meal. We had such a fantastic time! I wholeheartedly recommend this place – I can’t wait to come back! A huge thank you to the owner for making us feel so welcome in his wonderful establishment!

The mutton here dissolves like whispered secrets in the mouth, soft yet defiant, each bite a small revelation on rivers of spice. As I ate my next bite, I could almost feel the winds of southern india 🇮🇳 brushing warmly against my skin, alive and full of saffron dreams. I left enlightened- my hunger vanquished but my spirit was now awake, as though the earth itself shared its timeless story and eternal wisdom through food. Yes, this is the other good Indian resturant in San Diego. Trust, taste, transform.

We enjoyed both the vegetarian and fish dishes at Anjappar, and they were absolutely authentic in flavor. The service was excellent, and the owner’s warm and welcoming nature made the dining experience even more enjoyable.

The mutton dum biryani had about at least 25 cardamom pods. Service has a lot of room for improvement - very slow and understaffed.

1st time trying this place. Ordered paneer , malai kofta and pepper lamb, all take out. Rest of family ate the veg dishes...their comments were it was ok, nothing special. I had the lamb....fatty cheap cuts, as if lamb is like gold dust. Sadly, Indian restaurants tend to do this. The masala was especially disappointing...not even a strong pepper taste, thin gravy. One and done, gave it a chance, they obviously give priority to profit, even though the ingredients aren't that expensive. Not going back.

Mutton biryani is good, rice is flavorful and the meat is a little dry. Parotta is flaky and crispy. Natukodi curry is spicy and delicious. Jigarthanda is the best part of our meal.

Brought a chathinad chicken curry yesterday, it had only 3 small bony pices of chicken and the grave was stale... expensive but not fresh food.
