These monthly ethnic dinners are outstanding! Last night's fare was delicious though the portion sizes were noticeably reduced from previous months. I suppose that's good for the restaurant and good for diners' waistlines but it bears pointing out. It's not the value it has been. Both the host and wait staff are wonderful, kind and accommodating. I just wish something could be done about the noise level. Wonder what's in store for next month's grains menu...

What a hidden gem! Definitely regret not having visited sooner. As the name mingei implies, the restaurant is a carefully curated international exhibit of food and the cultures that celebrate it in their own unique ways. The staff are docents for your culinary adventure and the chefs are masters of their craft. Some of my best bites in San diego in the past couple years, came from Artifact and I cannot wait to go back with more uninitiated.

The servers are caring, helpful and kind. They really want to make sure you are getting what you need. The food is very tasty and special. We didn't have time for the prix fixe menu and will definitely plan to go back to try it.

Fantastic international small plates- fantastic service. U r at the entrance to a museum - its open to a gift shop and entry- so not at sll intimate - but foodies will ADORE!!! Service was impeccable- casual dress 5 star restaurant food.

Had a lovely birthday lunch with my daughter and friends... love everything about this restaurant from delicious food amazing service and ambiance... there are artifacts from the present exhibit at the museum inside the restaurant area along with a gift shop and origami station we made chairs ... highly recommend the artifact for your dinning pleasure!

This is the hidden gem of Balboa Park! The food is spectacular; invention, well presented, fresh, and very flavorful. There is an equally great drink menu to go with the food including excellent non-alcoholic choices. Go eat here before there's a lineup!

We wanted to try this place for a long time but we only had several times drink at here before. Mingei is my favorite museum in SD and a restaurant at here, it is gonna be good! Plus their drinks are pretty nice as I remember. And yes, I’ll say here’s food is worthy to try. We ordered a Vietnamese pork meatball and a choripan burger, they are all fusion style food, which I like - A lot of different culture inspired cuisine. Meatball is flavorful and burger is juicy and tender. I would like more Vietnamese flavor in the meatball like fish sauce I guess, now I feel the Vietnamese flavor is not enough. The service is nice and the atmosphere is great. I’ll definitely recommend you come to try.
