I had such a wonderful experience at this Ethiopian restaurant in San Diego! The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and full of authentic taste. The customer service was amazing; everyone was so warm and welcoming, and it truly felt like being treated as family. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, which makes it a perfect place to enjoy a meal with loved ones.

If you’re looking for great Ethiopian food with excellent hospitality, this is definitely the place to go. Highly recommend!

Delicious food in the middle of an Ethiopian market. It’s kind of cluttered and messy. The service was OK. We waited a while even though they didn’t appear overly busy. The food arrived quickly after ordering.

Not one to make reviews but just thought I’d share my experience. Decided to pick up some Ethiopian food as my mother and I were craving it and are visiting from LA. We ordered kitfo and doro wot and by the amount of stars rewarded you can guess how it went. While the kitfo was ok the chicken from the doro wot looked as though it was thrown into the stew at the last second. Usually the flavors seep into the chicken but this was bland. On top of that it was raw, even after being microwaved on our end (we are in a hotel). Usually Iyb (cottage cheese) or some other side is served as well since spending over $50 but maybe that’s an LA thing. Nice people at the front and I’m sure it was an off day but overall disappointed. Maybe next time.

One of our favorite spots to eat in San Diego. We try and visit each trip down. We have been going here since we were introduced to Awash by a friend back in 2011. Excellent food, and very kind owner/staff. Would recommend!

Been eating here with my family for over a decade, and the food and service never disappoints. A breakfast, lunch or dinner at Awash has always satisfied both my hunger and craving for flavor

Delicious food!! Got a bottle of the honey wine and the vegan platter for 2. My boyfriend agreed it’s the best honey wine we’ve tried. The platter was perfectly portioned with plenty of injera and all of the dishes were flavorful. Clearly labeled vegan items as well.

The service was great - friendly, attentive, and quick. We came in a bit late and they were still serving food and we did not feel rushed at all.

It’s a casual spot with a mini market feel in the back. I will definitely be coming back!!

Thank you for the great food and service 🙏 we are lucky to have this spot locally!

The food of this place is fantastic. You get to experience Ethiopian food in the traditional way, and you must visit the place for its taste and uniqueness. I tried the Awash Special Tibs plate for my birthday. The owner of the place even gifted me a pack of imported Ethiopian beer as a present!!

Yummy! Authentic Ethiopian food. Not many places like this in San Diego. A humble eating area in the midst of a market. A bottle of honey wine goes well with the food.

Awash Ethiopian is the best I’ve found across the West Coast, New Mexico, and Texas. The Shiro Wot, veggie combo plate, and ginger tea (sweetened with real honey!) are absolutely incredible. It’s tucked inside a small Ethiopian grocery, humble in atmosphere but rich in flavor and heart.

Food took an hour, the atmosphere was terrible, literally a grocery store with a plastic fence up and no effort to make it nice
