My favorite establishment in all of San Diego
I love the corn cake
This place was lively, but the dessert that I got was not the best tasting. There were other items that looked amazing. I'm going back.
This is one of my favorite destinations every time I go to San Diego. Their goods are ridiculously delicious. The raspberry/passion fruit scone, in particular, is my personal favorite pastry. The guava pastry is also tasty, and their cubano coffees are some of the best I've had, and I'm not even a coffee drinker, lol.
If you're ever vacationing in San Diego, this is worth a visit! (Or, in my case, I go here every morning I am in San Diego).
We visit San Diego every two years or so and we pick our vacation rental based on its proximity to the beach and to Azucar, because this is where we start every morning. They have the best Cafe con Leche we've had outside of the Florida Keys.
Popped in because we saw a line of people with yummy treats in hand - glad we did. Ordered a pistachio strawberry scone and Pastelito de Queso which was absolutely delicious. The indoor space is quite small so beware you may step on some toes while in line.
This stop was a great way to start our morning walk to enjoy our sweet treat and the morning air.
If I lived in San Diego, I’d be here ALL the time. The pastries were truly incredible, some of the best I’ve ever had. And the Cubano sandwich was delicious. Don’t be in a hurry…. It takes a while. But it’s worth it the wait. For the faster takeaway items, the cubano meat pie was super tasty, as was the strawberry rhubarb almond tart. 👌🏼
Been one of the best spots in point Loma for ages
Great pastries! Parking is limited, but the flavors are worth it 💯
We stopped by after a morning walking Oskar at OB Dog Beach ⛱️
I love this shop so much it is one of the best places in California. I just went in with my dog of like 20 lbs and was told for the first time not to bring her. This it totally fine if it had been enforced before. I had a pickup order and one of the baristas said I needed to leave immediately or tie my dog up outside, which I was unable to do in the moment. I had to just leave and it’s my only day off and I hate writing reviews like this but it really sucked. EDIT: came in today and two people had dogs. I took pictures. Do you guys just not like me?

This place is amazing! All the things we ordered were incredible… decadent and complex, without being cloyingly sweet. All the flavors in each item are balanced so well! I would try anything, knowing it will be delicious. The Cielo Limon cake which is lemon and pistachio is my favorite so far. Can’t wait to come back again.

Azucar makes delicious, creative and beautiful cakes and pastries for any special occasion or just for no reason. I love the guava pastries they have.
Checked out Azucar on a Saturday morning. Because it was early, parking wasn’t a problem but it can be a nightmare depending on when you go. Five minutes before opening, there was already a line out the door and after trying their pastries, I can understand why. Line moved pretty quickly and our food came out after 5-10 minutes. There were a few outside tables that can seat 4-6 and there were many 2 person tables inside. Pretty pricey for each item but worth it.
I enjoyed their:
-Guava and Cheese pastry ($3.75)
-Cheese roll ($3.75): we don’t have a Porto’s nearby so I love that we have this availability here. I wanna say Azucar’s cheese roll is a little heavier than Porto’s and the crust on the pasty was nice and crunchy.
-Cinco Leches: so sweet but so good
-Pastelito De Carne ($3.75): this was my most favorite item and what will make me continue coming back to this place. I have to say that this might be the best meat pie that I’ve tried— flaky pastry (was still good after air frying at home) and the ground beef is so juicy and flavorful!
