i went to one of the locations in Hong Kong and the vegan dumplings/potstickers were exactly the same as they are here in san diego! not that many vegan options but the dumplings were good Updated from previous review on 2025-07-07
Taiwanese fast and casual dumpling restaurant offering decent vegan options. They have vegan dumplings and vegan pot stickers. There’s also several vegan cold dishes.
I like it
I think we need more premium quick service ethnic restaurants like this one! Ambiance is simple, white, and clean. You're for the food, not for a dance club environment. Good tasty Taiwanese dumplings that have a delightful crunch at the bottom, but soft and chewy up top, and filled with a lovely blend of pork, cabbage, onion, and gawd knows what else. Not the best dumplings ever, but delicious! The wonton soup was simple, hot and savory, packed with wontons, and satisfying. All this for $14.
What's really nice is that when you order, the cashier machine does NOT ask for a tip! What relief in this day in age of overtipping! Granted, there is no service...your order at the counter or table, pick up your own food when your buzzer goes off, and grab your own table and bus your own sauces and water. So it makes sense why there is no tip. For me, that makes this 4 star eatery into a 5 star eatery.

The decoration is very good, the beef noodles are great, the dry noodles are average, and the pot stickers are also delicious, especially the kimchi flavor. No tipping for meals!

I repeat: THIS IS NOT TAIWANESE FOOD
This is NOT Taiwanese owned.
If you support Taiwan, go to DING TAI FUNG
Taiwan is not part of communist China
I checked on my cell phone before walking in that this restaurant closes at 10 PM. I placed my order at 9:14PM for #4 and black tea latte, there were still many dine-in customers.
During the next 15 minutes , the dine-in customer started to get their food one by one. Eventually, when 20 minutes is up, I checked with the counter associate, she said that they only have one cooking staff at this hour.
I’ve dined in at this place once, the food portion is tiny.
Like I really want to eat your food. I requested for a refund immediately.

Clean inside. The noodles could’ve been cooked more throughly and spicy wontons were way too sweet. Menu should say “sweet and spicy” wontons… to each their own.

Beef noodle soup is much better than DTF's even though it is not strictly traditional. Spicy wonton is also very tasty. This is my go-to restaurant. They don't demand tips at all.

I had high hopes for this dumpling place, but it was a huge disappointment. First off, it’s entirely self-service, which is fine if the food is worth it, but unfortunately, it isn’t. The dumplings are just microwaved frozen ones you could easily buy from the grocery store like Costco. They lacked any real flavor, freshness, very soggy and some were even cold in the center. I don’t understand how there are so many people cooking and how’s there’s a skirt if soggy especially when I’m dining in and eating it immediately.
Honestly, you’re better off buying a bag of frozen dumplings from the Costco, Trader Joe’s, or the Sprouts and heating them up yourself. At least you’d save money.
Would not recommend, do not trust these influencers who are clearly paid by these companies, and all these white ppl tbh

Bafang Dumpling is quickly expanding across Southern California, and the Mira Mesa location keeps up the same high standards. Their menu highlights dumplings, potstickers, and noodles, with a special lunch combo that combines their most popular items—perfect for a quick and satisfying meal. They also offer a variety of refreshing fruit teas and milk teas to pair with your food.
Their frozen dumplings are another hit, available in convenient packs of 20 or 50 pieces, making them ideal for take-home meals. The spacious dining area is inviting, with stories on the walls that share the history of their dumplings, potstickers, and the franchise’s growth.
That said, be prepared for a bit of a wait, as the potstickers are made fresh to order. While the wait time can be longer than expected, the quality of the food makes it worth it!

The dumplings taste pretty good, nothing special, nothing comparable to Taiwan! The only great thing is that the saltiness is just right.
The disadvantage is that the dumpling skin is too weak! I bought a few packs of raw dumplings. The bag said they should be cooked for 8 minutes, but I only cooked them for less than 1 minute and several dumpling wrappers broke!
And when we were ordering food, the front desk lady would keep saying "what else do you want...and keep saying it several times". Her doing this will put pressure on the guests ?

Do not recomment for vegetarians. Ordered noodles and dumplings. Noodles were not even seasoned, and dumplings can do much better. One star for the boba tea.
We ate Taiwanese noodle and it’s pretty good , my husband said the soup does not have enough flavor, but meats and noddles were great
