We tried to patronize Rick's twice. The first time, they were closed even though we went during their posted hours so we could not get in.
The second time, we did get in, had 1 drink and then wanted to order drinks and food and were told they were closing. That was before 6pm, but their hours clearly say they close at 6:30pm. There was never any notice given to patrons that they were going to close early and you would not be able to place an order. The bartender was the opposite of apologetic about the situation, she was actually rude about it.

This is a very fun pre Padre game place with lots of beer pre game specials. I wasn't there for pre game, I wanted to try the lobster tacos. They were tasty but for $21 it was more sized like an appetizer. Very good taste. Look at picture with fork.

Ordering and finding seats were easy, it’s a self service feel restaurant. The food was a really big let down especially for the price range. It was lacking flavor, I had gotten their surf and turf bowl. I didn’t end up finishing it. I’d like to say I’ll give it another chance but to be let down for such a high price is eh. Especially when there are other locations that have amazing surf and turf in San Diego.

Order at the counter and seating is self serve.

Good: The location is great. Easy to get to from the convention center. Burgers good. Tacos ok. Love the sink for hand washing that is in the dining room. It makes it easy to wash hands before eating and after eating.

Bad: The dark rum was not blended with the rest of the drink. The dark rum was simply poured on top of the blended portion, and this made it hard to stir the rum into the drink, especially the way the drink was placed in the cup. The pina colada was put in a squishy plastic cup. Grabbing the cup pushed the drink and dark rum sitting on the top of the blended portion run over the top. My hands kept getting wet and sticky form this so good thing the hand washing sink was easy to get to. The nachos were pretty gross, plain, and devoid of seasoning. My companion took the meat from my tacos and put it on the nachos to make it taste better.

Baja Rick's is the place to go before a Padres game! Conveniently located within close walking distance to Petco Park.
The food is super good.
The service is great and who doesn't love eating outdoors in America's Finest City where the weather is always beautiful!

Always our favorite stop for a Padres game. But in particular Thursday, both entrees were too greasy. The restrooms were out of toilet paper and dirty floors.

Pre-game Tacos and Cervesa in an outdoor casual atmosphere.
We ordered salmon, mahi and cod tacos. Added sides of rice, beans and elote (street corn) which was all delicious.
Second visit and it did not disappoint. Had fun and left amp'd for a baseball game.

All American Mexican blend. Outdoor breezes and music vibes. Courteous bartenders and fine drinks.

Overpriced. I used to enjoy coming here, but the prices have gotten out of control. Just a year ago, the Chicken Caesar wrap was $12 — now it’s $18 (see pics for proof) That’s a 50% increase with zero noticeable improvement in quality, portion size, service, or ambiance. It’s still the exact same wrap. It’s not even a real sit-down restaurant. And $5 for a fountain drink? That’s just wild for syrup and water.

To make matters worse, my wrap was served with a giant tear down the middle, making it a mess to eat. For $18, I’d expect at least a properly wrapped wrap. (See pic for proof)

On top of that, they’ve added a 5% surcharge to every order to “improve pay and provide health insurance” for the employees. But you’d only see that in the fine print at the bottom of the menu. Was almost doubling the prices not good enough?!
