I’m not sure if it remodel or new owner but the papaya salad is rotten. They made me papaya that are soft and bitter taste like it’s an expired papaya that’s supposed to be tossed out already but they still made it anyway for profit what a waste of money and food I had to throw it out will never go back again.

Ordered homemade noodle soup with blood cubes, crispy fried rice, laos sausage, spicy papaya salad, crispy pork skin, beef laab, and spicy fried peppers. Best dishes are sausage, noodles, and beef laab. Everything in general was very good. Very unique, can tell it's traditional. Papaya salad has a weird taste, it's not bad but just not for me.

Love this little spot. We try to steer away from service restaurants because they seem to be the least consistent in terms of food. I’ve eaten here every time I visit San Diego. Love that they allow you to taste your papaya salad and have them adjust it to your liking before they plate it.I always get:Papaya salad medium spicyBeef larp medium spicy, medium rare or RAW depending on who I’m eating withLao sausageChicken wings (salt n pepper)Side of sticky riceI’ve tried other items but those are the ones I always get!

3 1/2 star review UpdateThey gave less portion size than usual. Even the laab was in a different sized black plastic container box. It was good but I still had to add my own fish sauce and toasted rice seasoning to make it better. The fried chicken was not as flavorful and a little burnt tasting. I usually spend $45 and up here but their quality went down. They keep giving less and less everytime. My go to spot for fish laab and premade Lao bamboo soup. The laab portion size is ok and the price is decent for how much they give you. Depending on who makes it, the ratio between meat and herbs varies. It's meant for sharing at the table so it would be a waste for a single person. The only thing I didn't like was that they didn't add garnishes like cucumbers, mint leaves, lettuce, on the side for laab so depends on who the cook is.Food is always authentic and delicious. It hits the spot whenever you are craving a homemade Lao meal. The prices have gone up though. For being a hole in the wall spot that takes cash only it is kinda pricy.Since it is a hole in the wall restaurant that takes only cash don't expect much and just enjoy the cooking. Mostly people order takeaway anyway. And they got premade foods to go too. Some items are kinda expensive compared to another restaurant with similar products.Cons: slow service, they don't open on time and increased their prices (less portion sizes), plus cash only! They were closed on a Monday so they need to update their schedule on here.

If you like authentic green papaya salad, this is the place! "Spicy" will burn your gums while "medium" is akin to "Thai hot.". Great authentic flavor--our favorite!

Authentic Laotian Food And The Fried Chicken Is Outstanding

Arricka Noe

First time I remember eating Laotian food but won't be the last. The chicken laab was delicious and so fresh. Perfect for a hour summer day. The fish wrapped in banana leaf was perfectly flaky and seasoned. Jonathan was friendly and served us well. Only wish I didn't live on the other side of the US so I could come back often.

Very very good food! We tried the chicken soup, chicken laab, fish dumpling, long beans and glutinous rice. 100% recommend. The owner is very nice and they have great customer service!

So Amazing . Sausage the best. Larb sour raw beef. Wings . Papaya salad with great paste. Grilled Egg . I'll be back. Unexplainable.

It’s been awhile and even though they’ve raised prices dramatically, I still recommend this place constantly because it’s the best Lao spot for papaya, wings, and Khao Piak. The chili oil is always spicy and I buy that in bulk for home. It’s cash only. Worth the drive but it’s too bad there are not delivery options.

Been going here for years (ever since I was a kid my grandma would grab food when she didnt want to cook it herself)Definitely a hidden gem, BEST bang for your buck portions vs other lao spots near by. Home feel, will always come to them for my lao cuisine.
