Finally found a place that makes the grilled pork banh mi. Both grilled pork and grilled beef taste great. Portion size good for price. I drove 25 miles to check this place out. I tried 4 different places within a week. I will be coming back

Great little takeout spot with delicious Spring Rolls!

We are big Spring Roll fans, so we got the Tofu and Shrimp rolls. The tofu was marinated and very flavorful. The rolls were clearly made to order and packed with delicious greens, herbs, and noodles. Highly recommend!

No question, hands down the BEST banh mi in San Diego! Crispy bread, stuffed to the brim with protein and veggies, insanely well priced. My favorite is the #1 banh mi special, but grilled pork and tofu is excellent too. Excellent strong Vietnamese iced coffee and yummy avocado smoothie.

I’ve tried other shops in San Diego, including some chains 👀, and they cannot beat the quality and flavor of Banh Mi Express (formerly Phuong Nga Bakery & Cafe).

Give this place all the business it deserves!

Banh Mi Express is conveniently located in a shopping plaza on Clairemont Mesa (Asian central location). This is a small and clean banh mi shop with dine in seating for about 20 people. mostly serving banh mi sandwiches, Vietnamese drinks, smoothies, egg rolls and rice noodles combinations. Ample parking and close to the highway. We ordered three banh mi sandwiches: grilled BBQ pork, grilled chicken and grilled beef and a pork rice noodle combination and Vietnamese iced coffee at the cashier counter and found us a table to sit. The banh mi sandwiches were under $8 each, iced Vietnamese coffee was about $5.50 and about $14.50 for the rice noodle combo. After a few minutes, our food was delivered to our table with napkins, chopsticks and drinks. The bread is made fresh daily. The banh mi baguette bread was lightly crispy on the outside and soft inside with good amount of meat and veggies. Banh mi is all about the bread and this shop delivers. We liked the grilled BBQ pork sandwich the most and our least favorite was probably the grilled chicken (felt like they used leftover grilled chicken meat). The Vietnamese coffee, a little pricey for a small drink, was good but not as authentic as we’d hoped for. The rice noodles combo was decent and tasty, especially the 3 egg rolls which came out fresh and piping hot. The person behind the cashier counter was very nice and made good and honest recommendations to us and we appreciated that. Banh Mi Express is a good place to grab a quick bite and satisfy your craving for tasty and affordable Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches in the Kearny Mesa area.

One of the best bánh mì spot in San Diego. Since I'm very particular about my bánh mì, I can only give it 4 stars. Place is clean, service was really good. Vietnamese coffee was above average but not good. You'll get a lot of food for your money here.

I love a good banh mi, and this one is one of the best I've had by far. The service is Great and Quick as well. The spring rolls are amazing, and the baguette Is perfect perfectly toasted. I'll definitely be back!!

One of the best banh mi sandwiches I have had in SD. I got the grilled pork banh mi. The bread had a crunchy crust but the bread inside was soft and fluffy. The grilled pork was flavorful, good pickled veggies, and fresh veggies. Also got the 4 piece egg rolls which were great. Place had plenty of searing as well and clean. Will definitely come back.

BEST BANH MI IVE HAD IN SAN DIEGO! The bread is so so good and perfect texture. I had the #1 Special and #7 Grilled Pork. Amazing service and best Vietnamese iced coffee. I’ve a San Diego native and have been to Vietnam 4 times, so I’ve had a lot of Banh Mi in my life. Hao provided great service and is very friendly! Highly recommend!

Banh Mi Express makes a yummy banh mi and friendly service. A true banh mi needs the right bread and veggie fillings to go with whatever meat or vegetarian options you like and this place has it. Many options. I've had the banh mi special and the BBQ pork banh mi. Both were great. Haven't tried anything else yet on the menu.

Wanted boba so I stopped into this place. I got their peach lemongrass tea and it was delicious! There was fresh lemongrass, peaches, and an orange slice in the cup. So nice to see fresh ingredients instead of mixed powdered drinks at other places.

They were out of the original tapioca boba but they had a crunchy jelly boba. That was interesting and good too.
