Hostess wasn't listening so be sure to clarify if you have specific expectations. Burrata was ok as the green tomatoes weren't our fav. Pesto gnocchi was excellent.
The lobster pasta was good, but the other pastas we got were warm and not as tasty as before.
Our server and table assistant were excellent. The food quality is always top notch. If you come, you must have the marrow appetizer, it's so decadent and silky! The pasta is always cooked to perfection. My go-to when in town will always be Barbusa.
The wife had Bolognese and I had the lasagna, both very good. We also have the cannoli dessert which was different but good. Definitely a place you can go back to and enjoy the food. Service was spot on

Caesar salad was limp with dressing. The salmone was good but the spiced sweet potatoes did not augment it. It was just ok for me overall .
Fantastic vibe, food was delicious, service was wonderful and so were the drinks! Valet parking was convenient and easy.

Barbusa is the perfect combination of great food and wonderful ambiance. The pasta is excellent and service exceptional. I highly recommend it - i go every time I'm in San Diego.
Nice, cozy atmosphere, best to take a rideshare or walk because traffic can be annoying.

I really wanted to like this place since it presents itself as a higher-end restaurant, but my experience was disappointing. While the food itself was decent, my dish came out cold. It took over 20 minutes for them to remake it, and by the time it was ready, my wife had already finished her meal. At that point, I just asked them to leave it. For a restaurant that markets itself as upscale, this kind of service and timing is unacceptable. The overall experience fell far short of expectations.

Restaurantji Recommends
Im Sicilian and my grandma is rolling over in her grave for me saying this but hands down best Italian food I've had in my life. Joel was the best bartender and made sure I had everything I needed at the perfect times. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants to experience amazing service and authentic Italian fine dining.

Have been coming here for years. Recommended to family and friends. Not the same vibe. Hostess tells us can’t sit at the tables in the bar area, they are reserved. No reserve signs I can see. All tables empty for over an hour. Perhaps hire a hostess with a personality and customer service then maybe I’ll come back. Not the Italian family I was raised in where you take pride in treating other people like family and share great food.

Great restaurant. Staff accommodated a party of 6 on a Saturday night without a reservation. Food delicious and the service outstanding. Would definitely return next time in town.

Food: (8/10) - one of the dishes came out warm and not hot but tasted great still. Drinks were good and anniversary dessert was on the house Service: (Hostess: 1/10) (Waiter: 10/10) - Hostess was very disrespectful and unprofessional and my wife was disappointed on how our reservation was handled and we had to wait over 30 mins to be seated after asking every 10 mins. Waiter was amazing and a true professional! Great energy and did his best to serve on a busy Saturday night. Would recommend him 10 out 10 times. Ambience: (5/10) - Very nice restaurant but small and outdoor seating is very limited. Would not recommend if you are very hungry or trying to have a very romantic dinner. Seems very crowded and tight to be comfortable Value: (7/10) - Food was worth the price but the waiting for our table was not. Waiter saved the day and was the highlight. Very loud and tight spaced restaurant but nicely decorated. Noise Level: (1/10) - Too loud but the baseball game was on and it was a Saturday. More of a bar/restaurant type environment. Not a romantic setting or place to have a professional meeting/dinner Overall: (8/10) - Minus the waitress/30 min wait time and the noise level, good experience and would recommend for people who just want to enjoy good food with friends and not a celebration of an anniversary.
The granchio was very good. It was a pasta with blue crab and a Serrano rossa sauce. They served a generous amount of crab and the sauce was creamy and spicy. The espresso martini was also yummy.
