Okay the reviews a little late and I apologize my daughters and my son-in-law went out to San Diego for a concert on Wednesday night to see Hamilton leithauser this is our favorite restaurant and we got there very late 8:30 to be exact there's a server name Michael that was outside and you could tell they were getting ready to close it down and he was so kind and said I will serve you and he was outside and let us sit inside and he still came in and served us thank you so much we asked to see the manager to say thank you to this wonderful gentleman go see Michael

Very good Mexican food. The rice was especially good. We had carnitas and flat tacos. The corn tortillas were very fresh.

Good food. Choose to sit inside and the service was a little slow as most of the other patrons sat outside. I would revisit this place. The food is better than most of the other restaurants in Old Town.

A friend of mine and I went today to have lunch. Since we arrived, everyone on the staff was very welcoming. Our waitress was Vicky, super friendly and efficient.

The carne asada fajitas plate was delicious!

Thank you very much.

First time dinning ๐Ÿฝ at this restaurant in Old Town San Diego. Nice atmosphere and the food is surprisingly ๐Ÿ‘Œ very tasty ๐Ÿ˜‹
The chips and salsa was very good ๐Ÿ‘ with just a slight spiciness and also served a side of black beans ๐Ÿซ˜
I ordered the 3 combination (no cheese on my plate); beef tamale, chicken enchilada and carnitas taco ๐ŸŒฎ
this plate ๐Ÿฝ had really good taste ๐Ÿ˜‹
the beef tamale ๐Ÿซ” was good but had just a small 10% amount of beef and about 90% masa. The chicken enchilada was very good ๐Ÿ‘ with plenty of chicken. The carnitas taco ๐ŸŒฎ was delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹ with the right ratio of carnitas and veggie toppings.
I ordered the flan ๐Ÿฎ for dessert and was disappointed ๐Ÿ˜• they added whipped cream and chocolate syrup to the flan ๐Ÿฎ and a cherry๐Ÿ’ on top as if it was an ice-cream sundae... WHY? ๐Ÿค” flan ๐Ÿฎ should be served alone with the caramel syrup only!
Now although the staff was professional they lack humor, laughter and interaction with the guest's.
The waiter came by a few times to see ๐Ÿ‘€ if everything was okay ๐Ÿ‘ but they never asked if we wanted anything else, more drinks ๐Ÿธ or water ๐Ÿ’ง and never asked if they could remove our plates ๐Ÿฝ... actually we had to move them to the side so we could finish enjoying our drinks ๐Ÿน๐Ÿธ
That's why I gave only 2 โญ๏ธโญ๏ธ stars for service.

On a side note... Food wise, I recommend this restaurant ๐Ÿ‘ over the other busier restaurant next door, Casa de Reyes. The food next door is not so great... they lure their guests with music and friendlier staff but the food is not great and the rice tends to be dry and most of the other dishes lack taste.
I should know because I would take guest's there ๐Ÿคฆ

If you are in the Old Town area, Barra Barra is a must stop! You won't be disappointed! My date and I decided to check this place out during happy hour which starts at 4pm and goes only till 5pm. We were greeted promptly and got to choose our own table outside as we wished for. Chips and salsa and a black refried bean dip instantly appeared, that was so delicious! We ordered a skinny margarita and shared it. Again, delicious and perfectly made. For our entree's we ordered off the happy hour menu. My date ordered the mango sea bass ceviche, and I ordered the queso fundido hot skillet with jalapeno jack cheese, chorizo, and pico de gallo and tortillas. Everything was delicious. The atmosphere was very relaxing and the staff checked back frequently to make sure everything was fine. I highly recommend this place. We will be back!!!
