They were short staffed for it being a holiday so wait time to put in food order was a bit long. Food and drinks were delicious.

This time placed an online order, after waiting for 10 min past pickup time they tell me their system is down and they didn’t receive any orders. Then they tell me they’re out of the items I ordered anyway. Then after selecting new items, they tell me I still have to pay for the food a second time because they can’t give me refunds on the online order. They then told me to call toast, which does not deal with the restaurant customers.

Food is always my first concern... it’s ok, nothing special for SD. Only went because I live nearby. Salsa is very good wings were good quality but a bit lackluster flavor Tacos lack something... ? flavor.. despite using fresh tortilla, tried 2 separate occasions and was underwhelmed. Nothing is bad. Everything’s good, but nothing I’d recommend going out of your way for and certainly not for the price. *haven’t tried margaritas.
Rarely/never do I complain about service but I’ve been here on a busy weekend and a slow weekday and both times service was an abomination. Without a doubt the worst I’ve seen in 2 years of living in SD. Servers were nice but clearly overworked. Waiting a long time to be seated and for order. Both times food came before drinks. Both times was not given silverware/napkins and took several minutes to get after asking. Water came towards the end of the meal. Didn’t even wait for check, tried to pay with bartender but even that didn’t work.

Barrio Star was a cute lil place, inside and out. There weren’t a ton of people inside when we went for lunch which was nice.
I ordered a Mexican chopped salad with tofu and it came out salad first and then the tofu which I thought was kind of weird. The salad itself was OK, it wasn’t ask crunchy as I thought it was going to be.
I didn’t try any of the drinks because I had to go back to work but their drinks look really tasty.

We stopped walking down the street due to the nice life music and walked in for dinner. Very friendly service, delicious margaritas made with love, and wonderful acoustics guitar life music. We had the mixed and fish tacos with mahi mahi All was very crisp and fresh, made from scratch, the rice and beans made with love all was amazing. The little restaurant takes care of every little detail to make you feel very welcome and come back. We will surely be back. Thank you for a great date night

Barrio Star is a really great restaurant with delicious food and fantastic service. I love that this is a fusion restaurant because everything is so original and flavorful. We drive an hour to eat here as much as we can and it never disappoints!
