Very surprised it’s only a 4.4 rating when it should be high 4’s from my ramen ventures. From the service to the open air feel of the interior to the best part: the food! The yellow tail is so fresh, the chicken karage and sauce are amazing, and the curry and black garlic ramen (we came back to back days) were some of the best I’ve had in California.
Try the curry ramen for a heavier broth and the black garlic ramen for a lighter broth.
Sushi rolls the yellow tail was amazing
All the appetizers were good but the tuna crispy rice was addicting

As first customers of the day, I was unimpressed by the mediocre food. The staff were not even bombarded with other patrons' orders yet bc we were the first guests.... We got the takoyaki, eel avocado roll, shoyu karaage, Sapporo ramen, spicy miso ramen, chasu pork buns. The ramen and flavor was good, but the temperature of broth was lukewarm which was really surprising considering we were literally the first customers... How is ramen broth for both bowls lukewarm? Was the broth just reheated from the day prior and they didn't get heated enough? Also the chasu in the ramen was dry.
What got me most disappointed was the "appetizer" shoyu karaage. 1) we received it at the end even though we ordered it from the beginning and we had already finished all our entrees by the time we received it... 2) It's advertised as marinated in soy sauce but when we got it and tried it, there was no inkling of salt or soy sauce flavor in the chicken. Was the chicken never marinated prior and they were last second trying to prep it during our entire meal and hoping that by the time we finished eating everything else that it'll be "marinated" enough or did they completely skip out on that soy sauce marinating step? We had ordered it for our kids, and they don't eat spice, so it's not like they could cover the blandness of the karaage with the spicy mayo that they presented it with.

Good Ramen and sushi!
Very good ramen place in San Diego! All of the ramen options were amazing. There are some spicier than others.
If you want to order appetizers, I recommend more gyozas.
The service is very good.

I came here wanting to get a taste of what American ramen is like from a Japanese perspective.
I ordered "Nagoya Umami Ramen". This seemed to be the most orthodox type of ramen at this restaurant.
The taste is...well, it's definitely ramen. It's ramen... but it tastes like the kind of ramen you'd find at a ``roadside station'' or ``service area'' in Japan. The taste is far from the best ramen shops in Japan.
Personally, I was concerned that he wasn't really into the noodles. It's like the ``raw noodle'' type ramen that you can buy at Japanese supermarkets.
However, it may be that the restaurant doesn't really care about ramen to begin with. When you look at the menu, the first thing that comes up is "SAKE." There is also a large explanation of ``Sake'' from all over Japan on the wall. It's probably more of an izakaya than a ramen restaurant.

Best experience ever! The food is incredibly flavorful—I could easily try the entire menu if I could. The service was amazing, and the restaurant was spotless. The broth was especially delicious, full of depth and richness. Everything was exceptional, and I can't wait to come back next time I'm in the area. Definitely a must-try if you're in San Diego!

The place is conveniently located in the Downtown area.
They have a few vegetarian options including one ramen option which i got!
It wasn’t bad, they allow for customization and offer extra toppings. It was good but not a flavor that would bring me back in 🤷🏻♀️
The service was good and fast, the server was friendly.

Where can I start! This has to be the best ramen shop I have been to. The flavor of the broth is something other places need to take notes on. It is so rich and creamy and just hits all the checkmarks on my list! The chicken karaage was so juicy and just perfect. I will see myself coming back every single week to get more!

My partner and I had dinner here, and it was a fantastic experience. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with a modern style and a festive Halloween touch. Despite it being a moderately busy Saturday evening, we were seated immediately, which was impressive. The staff were warm, accommodating, and even adjusted the blinds for us while happily explaining menu options. Their sake selection is impressive, and they have extensive knowledge to help you choose the perfect one. I ordered the black tonkotsu and pork gyoza, both of which were excellent. The ramen had incredible flavor—some of the best I’ve tried. Highly recommend!
Parking: Paid street parking available.
Kid-friendliness: Establishment is kid friendly, however, I would try and get dropped by the door due to the level of homelessness in the area.
Wheelchair accessibility: Establishment is wheelchair accessible

My partner and I dined at BESHOCK Ramen for an early dinner on a Saturday, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The service was excellent, and our waiter was very helpful, recommending a variety of drinks. We tried two beers and two different types of sake; while I discovered I’m not a huge fan of sake, I appreciated their selection and knowledge.
We ordered two mains along with some Pork Gyoza, which unfortunately arrived after we finished our ramen. I had the Chicken Katsu Curry, which substitutes ramen noodles for traditional rice. It was decent but not something I would order again. My partner’s ramen, however, was fantastic.
While we enjoyed our time there, the pricing might deter us from returning. A nice experience overall, but I think there are other options that better fit our budget.
Vegetarian options: Clearly labeled vegetarian and vegan options
Dietary restrictions: Asked about allergies, could cater for any issues.
Parking: East Village has paid street parking
Kid-friendliness: A classy place that can definitely cater for a few kids in the party, a dedicated kids menu was available, but I wouldn’t bring the softball team after a big win if you know what I mean.
Wheelchair accessibility: There was a wheelchair accessible entrance.

So, for my first time here, it was not a very good experience. It wasn't too busy, but apparently a bit understaffed. I say this because when you have a bartender being a waiter and taking orders, that's a problem. I ordered 2 cocktails to enjoy before dinner came out, then to tell me 10 mins later, they haven't gotten around to making them because the bartender is an acting waiter. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️. My curry was warm, not hot. The fried chicken that came with my plate wasn't hot either. It was warm. Let's just say I won't be coming back here. If you want to try a great Ramen spot, hit up Tajima on 9th Ave.
