First time having BBQ at Bowlegged BBQ. portion are large had the Ribs , Mac n Cheese, Coleslaw, Sweet Corn Bread. Ribs were so good, Coleslaw was refreshing but had a little kit of spice ? ?, Mac n Cheese was also good. The sweet corn bread was so amazingly delicious that I never had one so sweet n moist like the one I had at this place. Defently recommend this place and will come back.

I enjoyed the Currywurst, especially with the crispy fried onions. The next time I get it, I will ask for extra curry ketchup. The potato salad was also delicious. My son's girlfriend said the Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich was authentic.

Vegetarian options: They offer vegan brats and currywurst.

Literally the best snizzel and brautworst I’ve had since visiting Germany. Definitely worth hunting down where this truck is.

This restaurant serves up the best smoked brisket we’ve ever tasted, paired with absolutely stellar cornbread, potato salad, baked beans, and collard greens. The smoked rib tips were also outstanding. Dessert was a chocolate coconut cake that will make you weep with joy. Most importantly, the staff's welcoming hospitality was the cherry on top of an already fantastic eating experience. Highly recommended. We’d suggest you try one of everything on the menu. We will return again and again.

This is the real deal. Not some trendy bbq concept but honest-to-god barbecue. And if the amazing food was the only thing you got, it would still be 5-star. But you get this outdoor dining area that seems to have evolved organically. You get amazing , genuine customer service by extended members of the family and the customers are every bit as nice. And the music they play over the sound system just completes the package. It was so good, I went 2 nights in a row. And as my wife pointed out, I never do that. Important things to note: They serve until they run out ( tonight that would have been right around 7:00p, so dine on the earlier side. Parking is onstreet so you may have to hunt for a space.

Great food truck in San Diego. We had the spiced lamb gyro and currywurst. Both were fab, the gyro is non traditional but really really good and the wurst is the best I’ve had since Munich!

I so enjoyed the bbq chicken on the patio and became so comfortable interacting with the staff and other guest that I stayed through dinner. What was supposed to be a group lunch became like a family backyard bbq. Thank you Kenny and staff. Looking forward to my next visit.

Hands down the best bbq in SoCal. My friends and I drive down often for the excellent food and even better hospitality. I am a fan of the brisket, rib tips, hot links, and every single side dish...I never go home without a side of peach cobbler and Bowlegged has even given me some ice cream to eat my cobbler while I hang out. When in San Diego stop by and check them out. You won't be disappointed!

Was in town vising my sons and went to this restaurant that my daughter-in-law saw on tv. We were not disappointed. The owner greeted us and he was very funny and we felt right at home. The food was good and very good portions

Stopped by the Bowlegged BBQ after the store was promoted on a local news show as Texas bbq in San Diego. I had the brisket, with Mac & Cheese and baked beans. The brisket was served sliced thick, 2 slices and smothered in bbq sauce. There was a thick vein of fat in the meat and the fat cap was not fully rendered. Personal preference I like TX brisket with natural smoke flavor, the fat rendered and sauce on the side. The Mac & Cheese had the flavor of Kraft. The baked beans were good.

Went to Bowlegged BBQ on a whim. Was a fantastic find. Large portions, delicious brisket, BBQ beans. Was a great find. Highly recommended. Only issue is parking. Nice mom & pop set up, Neighborhood location. Parking is horrible. I might suggest an Uber or Lyft. I will be going back SOON…

We always try to support our beautifully diverse family-owned businesses and restaurants in San Diego. Especially now we want to support our Black community and patronize our cousins throughout the county no matter how long the drive. So today we landed at Bowlegged BBQ for lunch after our little caravan down the freeway. We all loved the welcoming family atmosphere and got down to business ordering up a sampler mix of meats and sides to take to our distanced picnic. If you are seeking a —CO-19 safe—dine in experience, Bowlegged’s convivial patio has abundant good vibes. The Host takes care to make sure the patrons are greeted, wearing masks and properly distanced both inside and out. Out back, there’s seating with plenty of fresh air mixed with the sweet pleasing fragrance of BBQ. We briefly lingered while our meals were prepared then grabbed our food and met up again at our picnic spot. Everything traveled well and was still warm and so fresh and tasty. The brisket was likely the best brisket we’ve (ALL) ever had despite years of packing plenty of BBQ and soul food on our waistlines. Bowlegged certainly is in a class of it’s own. Smokey Tips, Tender Ribs, Snappy Hot Links all reclining in a shallow pool of nicely flavored sauce. Macaroni and Cheese, Crunchy and Creamy Slaw, Tender Yams, Home-style Potato Salad and Slightly Sweeet crusted Cornbread.... Everything prepared with love. Don’t miss this place whether you’re craving an assortment of home cooked sides or BBQ favorites by the plate or pound.
