The spicy chicken sandwich was one of the better ones in San Diego and the chicken to bread ratio was not bad. I hope the chicken does not shrink overt time as the price is already on the high side.

I ordered the standard chicken tender combo with cornbread and coleslaw, and I was disappointed. The coleslaw was unexpectedly spicy and made with too much mayo. The chicken tender was bland and soggy. The breading tasted like flour and not much else. The cornbread was delicious 10/10 amazing. And my boyfriend who has a Cali hot chicken sandwich said he enjoyed his meal, so maybe this place is only for the spicy lovers?Anyways I wish them all the best, keep up with the amazing corn bread and great beer selection.

I used to LOVE coming here, the food is amazing, the ambiance is amazing, I even like the music. My boyfriend and I always go here, well the lady manager was flirty with who I went with gave my boyfriend her number last time on our receipt. Super unprofessional and now we are both uncomfortable and will not be returning.

First: the White Cheddar Grits. These are good. Like you’d say bad things in church good. Like you’d willingly step over an acre of Legos to get them good. Like you’d sit through that four hour meeting that could have been an email good. Like stab hands with a fork of anyone who tried to snatch a spoonful good. Epically good.Wings, surprisingly good. I’m not at connoisseur, but best in San Diego. Fight me.This place has wings, and cocktails in a chill atmosphere. It’s someone read your mind. The cocktails, all original, and the two we had - perfectly made. The food - on point and enough to satisfy taste and stomach both. It is, very much perfect and soon to be our go to spot for afternoon, evening or just craving satisfying moments. But seriously, the grits…. Don’t share, get two.

My favorite place in San Diego. I travel a lot and every time I am in San Diego I return to Boss Bird Kitchen. Staff is very friendly and polite. Place is very clean. Love chicken and waffles, home fries and chicken tenders. Cocktails are also very creative and good. This place is a MUST to go!

We loved Boss Bird! We shared the Cali Hot Burger and it was fantastic. Perfect spicy level and the fries were killer. We didn't get any drinks, but I saw the cocktail menu and all the happy hour deals and we will definitely be coming back during the week to try those out.

My favorite spicy chicken place, show here is the chicken dinner in Cali-hot spice level. This place has a good variety of beer as well. Not like any other chicken you've had- you gotta try it.

This is my #1 chicken sandwich spot. Not just in SD but in general.Wifey ordered the chicken fried chicken, I ordered the Cali hot sandwich, and we got wings on the side (naked and garlic parm).Sandwich 10/10Wings 8/10Country fried chicken 7/10 (wife's review)I should have taken pictures but I ate it so fast. Sandwich itself was pretty hefty. The fries that come with it were damn good too.

Outstanding! This dry rub chicken is the best I've ever had, delicious, tender and so much flavor, not just "hot". Everything was so good including the corn biscuit and the fries. Great service, clean place. Will be back :)

Such amazing customer service! Food was absolutely delicious. Some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. Please leave room for dessert. The cookies will melt in your mouth. Absolutely hands down brandy favorite place. So good must try.!

Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of space for any type of wheelchair.

I got the chicken tenders which were very juicy! I can't recall what the spice level was called but I got the lowest one, and it was still a little too much for me. I can eat moderately spicy things.I think the spice was a little one-note (overwhelmingly something... paprika? cumin? It was like Southern spiced) and I wished there could be something to round it out. But that wasn't a bad thing in itself! Just something to note. Again, the chicken was very juicy, and the outside was nice and crispy. Great texture. Next time I'll just try the non-spicy version and maybe just have some BBK sauce for a little kick (I think it had some... Hard to tell after my mouth was already burning). I'll still give it a 5/5. If you like chicken, go here! My partner got one of their chicken burgers and really liked it as well. Again, juicy chicken and crispy outside.I wasn't a huge fan of the mashed potatoes. It was a relief to have them after my mouth was burning but I'd give them a 3/5. Biscuit was dry. 2/5.But I'd go back for the chicken, for sure.

So far, there's nothing i don't love about this place! I've had the chicken sandwich which isn't crunchy-crunchy. The skin texture is perfect and the inside is tender and juicy. It's served HOT as well so you know it's fresh.I've also had their Dime Box in 3 different flavours: NY Buffalo, garlic parm, and Cali Gold. I think the Cali Gold (mustard bbq) is my new fave. Next time i might try the garlic parm with a side of buffalo. The buttermilk pie is amazing! I'm not a big sweet fan but tuw sweetness was subtle enough for me to eat the entire slice. My friend got the peanut butter pie which was also very yummy. The Bird of Paradise cocktail was yummy but a little sweet for me. I prefer the marg with extra lime. Our waitress, Madeleine, was very attentive yet not annoying. She and the chef came out to check on us when it made sense. The service and music and all the things are great. I could go into greater detail but i think this review is long enough.

I stopped in today with my sister and nieces to give this place a try after reading the reviews. It is extremely clean and simple inside. We arrived right after they opened so unfortunately it didn't smell like yummy food quite yet, which kind of worried us.I ordered the Cali Hot burger, light on the spice. This sandwich was amazing! I loved the light crispy batter on the super tender chicken and the coleslaw and sweet pickles helped to cut the spice. My sister ordered the kale salad with a piece of fried chicken on the side and she thoroughly enjoyed her food. We also ordered the mac and cheese which was amazing, such a rich cheese flavor in a nice creamy sauce. The corn biscuits were very light and tender and were perfect with the butter and honey on top!The peanut butter cookies were the perfect finish to the meal!! We really enjoyed this restaurant and would definitely go back!

Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs, macaroni and cheese, chicken tenders and cookies.

Parking: Due to it being in downtown la Mesa, the parking sucks overall. We parked a block or so away and then walked over. Make sure to bring money for the meters.

Great food. I had the Cali-Hot Chicken Sandwich. I loved how the coleslaw did not have too much mayo in it, or at all. Fries were deliciously seasoned. The corn bread with chili jam was really good.
