Service is extremely poor and slow. Staff are rude. Shop smells like burning. Food tastes average if not below par. Overall is overrated.

I purchased a slice of bread multiple times and it usually appears to be approx one third of a loaf. Today for $3.25 it looked like I got less than a fourth of a loaf. Don't understand the size variation. Also item left out of my order had to walk 20 min back to get it. I feel like I'm irritating the people who work there at times. Also trying to use the gift card is like a puzzle if you want to load it prior to paying. Don't like being negative but I wish they would be slightly more personable.

So $8 each for tiny loaves of bread now?!?! The rosemary olive oil loaf is especially insulting. What a joke. After more than 2 decades I won’t be buying their bread again until things change.

Disappointing place - certainly compared to the rave reviews. Spicy coffee at the level of a teacher's room, mediocre food and high prices (really!). The two stars only because of the nice service - all the staff are smiling and welcoming.

Pistachio croissant and the Quiche are my all time favorites. Pastries are always delicious. Mango Mousse Pie is light and creamy, moist, really pretty and tasty. Salads and sandwiches are super good. Sourdough bread is another MUST. The chocolate croissants! Omg, cookies? Everything here is amazing. Enjoy!

Eat the bread! If you want a little Europe in your life, come here. Did a take out for breakfast fare and of course it's Europe flavors in San Diego which is heaven in heaven. Quiche was amazing with the fetta, chocolate croissant flaky (though the chocolate not melted throughout), and the apple muffin was amazing.

Good luck parking but it's Hillcrest so...

Best bread in San Diego!
Our favs; Fig & Anise, Rosemary Olive Oil, Baguette, French Batard, and the Pretzel Rolls.
The avocado toast with salad combination is very good for lunch. We also like the curry chicken or the tuna sandwich.
When it’s in season, the BLT with Heirloom tomatoes is to die for yummy.
