Greeted on the wait list 10 minutes, we got a coffee and sat outside. Once we ordered our food came within 10 minute. Great food too.
This is a very nice little cafe just a couple of blocks from the convention center. Food was good and the staff couldn’t be nicer.

Amazing place - the food is great and at a good price. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and they are so efficient. You can sit inside or out - and watch the world go by. Highly recommend you have breakfast here.
I have walked my dogs past this cute cafe more times than I can count and we finally made it over for breakfast this morning. So happy we did - wish we had done it sooner. It’s a small cafe with (as I counted) 7 tables and six counter seats inside and another 7 tables outside. We were fortunate there was no wait for a table inside. Atmosphere feels a bit crowded because you are right on top of the next table over but that’s more a space issue and trying to fit more tables in than anything else. If you don’t like others hearing your conversation this isn’t the place for you. That being said the service was fantastic and the food was scrumptious. We had the Biscuits and Gravy and it was probably the best I’ve had in San Diego. Tastefully peppery and plenty of gravy for the dish. It also comes with potatoes covered in gravy which I’ve never really experienced before but were good. I might ask them to skip the potatoes and give another biscuit or two next time as the potatoes seemed heavier than the fluffy biscuits. We also ordered the Breakfast Burrito covered in “Mexican Sauce” (read red Enchilada Sauce) and served with retried beans. My partner loved this dish and I had a taste and concurred it was tasty. It has green chiles inside which are mild. My partner is super picky about anything claiming to be Mexican so the fact it was a positive review on that is saying something. Couple other menu items we are interested in trying next time are the Waffle with Fresh Strawberries and the Stuffed Banana Peanut Butter French Toast. We saw both dishes coming out to other tables and they looked delicious.
My huevos rancheros were amazing, and so was the service. The coffee was fantastic, and the atmosphere is so much fun!
Four of us wanted coffee, and we were told to go to Lani coffee because this business was too busy. By far, it's the worst business model I've ever seen.Lani coffee was great. Thank you for recommending a different business.

Best waffle I ever ate - the lightest and fluffy - no hard outer edges - made the meal a combo w/eggs and sausage - service was excellent - it is a small cafe with limited seating
First time at Cafe 222. We chose Cafe 222 because of the Food Network and Travel Channel coverage. We arrived at 11:00 on a Friday morning and it was 1/4 full. We were greeted, seated and welcomed within 2 mins. Our server, Senace, offered us drinks right away. As soon as our coffee and juice arrived, we ordered brunch. My wife got the All American whilst I got the PB & Banana French Toast, as seen on TV. The juice, sadly, was canned OJ. A bit disappointed but they advertised that they had a small kitchen, so canned juice made sense. The American plate was huge. Two eggs, four small sausages, a mound of onion and bell pepper skillet potatoes, plus two large slices of buttered bread. Everything was cooked properly and had good flavor. My PB & B Stuffed French Toast was exactly as advertised: three half-slices of gooey goodness, served with whipped butter, maple syrup and dusted with powdered sugar. Yum! A special shout out to Senace: he was polite, knowledgeable, energetic and a smile factory. He was a real bright spot in a small diner.
This was our second visit 3 years between trips and just as good as the first time. The staff is great attentive and quick, the food is delicious I had the super biscuits and gravy only problem was that I couldn’t finish it . It’s enough for two people. We sat outside and enjoyed the street scene go and have a great time.
Cafe 222 does not disappoint. Excellent breakfast. Very good waffle, bacon, and omelette. Coffee and juice were good. Friendly, timely service. Whenever in town, we go here.

After discovering this place (close to Convention Center Hotels), we have had breakfast here for the past four mornings. Their Mexican scramble, banana bread French toast, blueberry pancakes, and waffles were lick your plate good! Highly recommended!
This restaurant was absolutely delicious! The food came out quick, and there was an extremely wide range of food available on the menu. The service was great and the staff were kind, energetic, and really wanted to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. Well worth a visit!
This was our 1st breakfast in San Diego and it was excellent!! The stuffed French toast with peanut butter and bananas was the best French toast I’ve ever eaten! Loved everything about this place! Thank you for a great 1st meal!
I ordered the Green Eggs & Spam (scrambled eggs, spinach, spam) , my wife had the Blueberry Cornbread waffle. Both were spactacular. The ratio of the egg dish ingredients was spot on; plenty of spinach, not too much Spam. The potatoes were grilled to perfection; not greasy, a little crust. The waffle had a good amount of blueberries cooked inside, and didn't need much syrup (which was not pure maple, but no surprise there). The servers were very attentive, the streetside environment was pleasant. I highly recommend.
Breakfast, ummed and ahhed about whether to go for a sweet or savoury option, the menu is pretty large. In the end I went for the cheese and ham scramble - it was OK, but with too much cheese and the potatoes came with onion despite it not being listed on the menu! It would appear their waffles and pancakes are more famous so if I went again, I'd try those and maybe the review would be different!
