Cool spot to grab tea :)
The interior is quirky and interesting, but the service is a big disappointment. Like another reviewer mentioned, minimal service was provided with a stone face and air of inconvenience. The loose tea is self-service, which I imagine means lots of hands in the tea jars over time. Tea is served in a paper cup, which for me ruined the antique vibe.

I went for the coffee and was sorely disappointed. It was really truly some of the worst coffee I've ever had. The girl who took my order wasn't very friendly. The atmosphere is very stuffy and it feels very crowded with stuff. I didn't try anything other than the coffee so I can't speak for anything else on the menu.

Barista sighed out loud when we arrived like she hated customers coming in and then proceeded to stand there stone faced without even a hi or a hello waiting for our orders. Literally rolled her eyes when I asked about the different types of syrups they offer. Oh and BTW they’re kitchens broken so no food is available. Ended up going to Mostra Coffee down the street, had a wonderful experience.

Loved everything about Cafe Bassam! The Mexican Mocha was the best! But we went there because the description included antique rifles on display; that grabbed my husband’s attention! We were going to enjoy the ambiance a bit and then take our to-go coffees but we lingered longer … with a piece of moist, yummy carrot cake.

High quality vibe
I used to work here. The owner treats his employees horribly, does not require them to have food worker's training, and sleeps in the cafe. The coffees are probably safe to drink, the tea containers are only refilled and not cleaned, and the food is prepared without the required safety precautions. During the short amount of time I worked there, I witnessed meat being left out for hours, then prepared and given to customers. I stopped eating there after that, but it's up to you if you want to risk it.

Very nice place to get a coffee or tea (wide variety) & a bite. Such a nice location in Hillcrest / Bankers Hill.

Very unique cafe. A lot of options for tea right in the center of the room as you walk in. Cappuccino was very delicious and tasteful. All I did not get her name, the barista was very knowledgeable and took care of us and our drink orders. Greatly appreciate that! Will definitely be back!
