California Bean 🫘 has always been a special place for my wife and me. It’s her favorite spot, and she won’t go anywhere else. At first, it was a bit of a hassle because it’s about 5 miles away from our Mission Valley home, and there were 15 coffee shops closer that were much easier to get to. But then, in August, my wife and I had our first child. As the great husband I am, I decided to go solo and get her order for the 3-5 weeks she was recovering from labor. That’s when I realized why she loves this place so much. The people working here are passionate about what they do and genuinely care about their customers. My daily commute to California Bean became something I looked forward to, even though I don’t drink coffee. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for top-notch service and, according to my wife, the best coffee in San Diego!!!

Looking for a coffeeshop open before 7 am this morning, and took the suggestion to go to California Bean. So glad I did. Fantastic service, a delicious decaf espresso, and pretty darn fast. If you need that early morning cuppa, make the detour.
Owner and baristas are are so nice! Their seasonal drinks are always good and so unique! They change every month! The bagels pastries and parfaits are great too! Probably my favorite coffee shop in San Diego!

One of the best lattes I’ve had! lady working (Tuesday late morning) reminded me of me when I worked in customer service. That’s the first thought I had as I saw her take care of the guests before me. I say that because that personable communication is rare in customer service. Very charming! Her energy felt authentically beautiful and I feel the want to come back! The latte was perfect I wanted another one ! I’ll be back (:

My sis and I happened upon this place while visiting Old Town, and the atmosphere and coffee are just superb! The set-up is so cute, and was actually perfect.
Not only were the gals who were running it so kind, but the coffee was quickly made, and probably one of the best iced lattes I've had (anywhere), period! Definitely recommend the iced latte with a shot of vanilla. Muchos Gracias!
