Carnitas Las Michoacanas

Feels like crossing the border. Everyone here is SO friendly and the food is awesome! Maybe it's because I'm usually the only gringo in the place (which is a GOOD sign for authentic Mexican food!), but I feel like I should dredge up my embarrassingly limited Spanish every time I walk in the place. 😁
They really do carnitas right. You can customize how much fat to meat you want, which is important if you're trying to please a larger crowd. Mexicans appreciate the flavor and added nutrition of the rich, fatty stuff, whereas most gringos like theirs a bit leaner (they don't know what they're missing!). The tortillas are always fresh and they greet you by handing you a free sampler portion of their awesome carnitas on a fresh tortilla right as you walk in the door! 🥰
I went there recently just to buy a pound of their fresh lard to make my own tortillas from some new heritage flour from Sunrise Mills my gluten sensitive wife found that she could eat, and it was outstanding! 😎 Nothing like that horrible, bland hydrogenated shelf-stable stuff you find in the red and white box at the grocery store. 😒

It was my first time there this morning and I must say, they were all very welcoming especially the cashier, I just didn’t catch her name. I was in a hurry. They gave me a free carnitas taco while I waited for my order. They even offered me a second one, plus coffee. (Just wow!) awesome hospitality. I felt right at home. The Carnitas was the juiciest and best tasting I have ever had. They are on point with everything they serve. I really believe it doesn’t get better than this. They set the bar high for there competition.
I will definitely let everyone I know about this hidden jewel.

This carnitas are beyond good, definitely worth always to come by. I been coming here since I was 8 years old and the flavor hasn’t changed. The flavor is unique you can’t find this anywhere. The best carnitas !

The service is done. The lady was fast and the food was out to us quickly...

But... The food was bland. The tortilla was as I thought from the pictures... Unfinished. They were doughy. The rolled tacos were fried good but also flavorless.

Will try the Chula Vista location. Won't return here.

I came last time got a 20$ plate for 1 pound carnitas rice and beans, it was good but this time I came she asked if I wanted 1 1/2 pounds I said sure. The total was $38.

Unsure if the pricing system is messed up she miscounted or just took advantage saw a lot of money in my wallet.

Owners a very cool guy! The burritos were delicious. The carnitas so juicy and tender ! You have to try it.

The salsa was expired and smelled funny we ask for a new one and told them it was expired and they lady gave us an attitude and didn't come back after 15 minutes. When going please make sure that the salsa isn't expired

This restaurant is cash only. The ladies and gentlemen were very inviting, kind and attentive. All of them were smiling and you could tell they truly appreciate your support for their business. We ordered 2 lbs of their carnitas for $50 to make tacos at home. We got some beans and rice on the side as well as a handful of tortillas, hot sauces and some onions with carrots on the side. The beans were sooo damn good. I haven't have such good beans in soo long. It was seasoned very well. Rice was delicious. I highly recommend this place for some good mexican food.
