Carnitas' Snack Shack - Embarcadero

This was our first time ordering from Carnitas but it won't be our last. We got the Shack Burger, Spicy Chicken, & Crispy Chicken sandwiches along with garlic fries. The garlic fries were the star of the meal with the spicy chicken sandwich not far behind. The burger and other chicken sandwich were also good. Prices are high but to be expected in a tourist location. Still, very convenient for us locals and the service was quick & friendly. Definitely recommend when wanting a quick & convenient pub-fare bite to eat (and the adjacent bar is a real plus while you wait). : )

I’m not hard to please when it comes to food, but I have to comment when the food is inedible, I literally can’t chew through my lemon pepper tenders I ordered…hard as rock.

Walking by after spending time in the maritime museum on a Monday afternoon & wanted a drink. Sat at the bar, greeted by middle aged white gentleman with green hat, seemed courteous upon approach. I ordered a drink & the garlic parm fries. Was a little surprised but not really when I was asked if I wanted to open a tab (which i opted not to) and had to pay right after I ordered. I sat & watched to see if others had to pay right after ordering to make sure I wasn’t overreacting, including the ladies who sat down next to me. A woman ordered wine— was never even asked to open a tab. Another who was there before me, ate her food and paid when she was done. Everyone else got to enjoy their orders and pay after. I wanted another drink but the vibe left a bad taste. I hate to put THAT card but just buyer beware if you’re a certain demographic.

Impressive portion sizes. Tacos were good but not great. Overall really good call for dinner tonight. Wanted something quick and tasty and it delivered

Stopped by this seaside place because it was recommended by a family member. I ordered the steak burrito and my partner had the fish sandwich. The burrito was excellent and partner claimed the fish sandwich was great too. Only downside is I found a hair in my food plate after I ate it. I’m not freaked out by hair but it’s not something they really sparks appetite. I didn’t see any hairnets so probably bound to happen to someone else too.

Horrible food, the burger was cold and dry, the triple shack was extremely greasy, and because it was cold it felt really bad. I had to swallow some of it because I was hungry and rushed, but we threw away the burger. They took less than 3 minutes to have it ready, it was easy to tell they had everything packed and ready. It felt gross.

I got the pulled pork sandwich and garlic fries. The pulled pork was good. The garlic fries needed a little more garlic flavor. I remember when this place was near Normal Heights. They had a tender pork belly there. Because this is downtown, there is no BBQ pit. So there isn't a pork belly in the menu. It's by the Midway museum, so the atmosphere is pretty good.

I ordered some lemon pepper tenders and I wish I wouldn’t have missed the picture but they were almost burnt and were salted like the ocean…. A LOT. I guess I should’ve gotten some carnitas 😕

We ordered a Taco box (4 tacos) with nachos, mahi fish sandwich and grilled fish taco. Tacos were really good and so was the nachos. The above items without drinks cost us $83 bucks.....
