The best bakery in the area between Poway and San Bernardo. They serve coffee by the cup, something rare. The staff is very polite and attentive.

We hadn't been here in a while - it was always "faux French" but used to be good at least. Pretty awful- stale and dry Croque Monsieur - I think they forgot the sauce. Onion soup was way over salted with broth that tasted like bouillon cubes and almost no cheese. Quiche was inedible - raw crust in middle and stale edges. Dessert looked French but tasted like CostCo cheesecake. Staff was very young kids making lots of noise talking among themselves creating a loud unpleasant environment. Crossed off my list .....

The girls who work here are nice. That is the end of the nice things I have to say about Champagne Bakery. It was my first time here and probably also my last. Mediocre tasting, small portioned food at a pretty expensive price for what it is. The establishment is not very clean (crumbs on vacated tables but everything has been cleared away so not sure why it wasn't cleaned). The silverware has not been dried properly so they appear dull and maybe also unclean. The display case is also dirty. The hygiene aspect is actually the least of my concerns. My boyfriend and I ordered french onion soup and there were MASSIVE pieces of bread in the soup, which is problematic because it makes the already small soup bowl appear full when a good chunk of it is bread. Very little soup was a huge disappointment for me. Please see pictures. ALSO MY GRILLED CHEESE WAS BURNED ON THE BOTTOM. If you like Champagne Bakery, the food is alright. However, I think there are much better establishments that are cleaner with better food for the same price or less :)

Sitting in a window seat, bathed in the afternoon sun, enjoying the yummy mixed fruit tart and coffee, was a great experience.Parking: Parking depends on the hours. There are quite a few small shops around, on site parking might not be available. There is a large parking lot a few steps away for trader joe's.

They need more than one person to jump in on the register. Maybe someone at the counter to take the order and then someone else to ring it up? My sandwich was lovely. Brie fig and Apple. I think the addition of prosciutto would make it spectacular.!!!

We've been going to this restaurant for almost 20 years and until now, we've never had any problems. Today, my wife ordered a cappuccino and after coming to the counter to pick up the completed drink, discovered that another customer had ordered a latte and picked up her cappuccino by mistake. My wife told the preparer, who then went to one of the tables to retrieve the cappuccino and brought back the drink and gave it to my wife. When my wife said she wanted a fresh cappuccino, the preparer argued that there was nothing wrong with the drink. My wife responded that she did not know whether the other customer had added anything to the drink (e.g., sugar) or had taken a sip from the cup already. To that the preparer said that she didn't think so and tried to persuade my wife to take the drink anyway. My wife had to argue with the preparer to make a fresh cappuccino for her. The few times something like this has happened to me--- my food delivered in error to another table--- the waiter has come to my table, apologized for the mistake/delay, and went back to the kitchen to have the order prepared again from scratch. I'm not sure that pushing food from another diner's table is a violation of any restaurant codes, but if it isn't, it should be. Finally it's my understanding that the person making the coffee drinks at this cafe is someone who receives an hourly wage and is not losing any of her pay if the order has to be prepared again. My conclusion is that she argued about re-making the drink out of sheer laziness. When it comes to food preparation, cutting corners can result in serious problems for the clientele. Chalk it up to bad training or inadequate supervision, in either case this suggests that there are some serious problems at the Champagne French Bakery Cafe. This incident makes me wonder how many other times something like this has happened with our order over the years.

They have good food, although not all of it is great. For instance, they rotate specialty items like Ahi Tuna salads, Dungeness Crab sandwiches and salads. I highly recommend sticking to the more simple things like their turkey sandwiches, and other basic menu items. This isn't the place to be getting seafood. The kitchen there is very basic and there isn't a 5-star chef doing the cooking. Stick to regular menu items and anything in the pastry case, and you'll be fine. The service here is just sort of ok. They don't seem to have a great passion for what they are doing. Although, they do seem to expect tips.

Ordered a tuna sandwich to-go. The bread was stale, lettuce was brown (nearly spoiled) and tomatoes were soggy. Ordered potato salad as a side & they were out. And didn’t have any forks for the order; they they’ve been out since the weekend. Bummer experience overall.
