Went to the happy hour. Reasonable deals. The tempura was really fresh and clean. Nice beer. Happy service. Appears they will be getting more as time goes on.

The sushi and sashimi were the best I’ve had in the USA. The fish was extremely fresh and tasted amazing. I recommend the Otoro and uni nigiri. Our server is recommended the kenpachi sashimi and it’s very delicious. The only issues I had were that the soy sauce seemed a little strong? the soy sauce was a little too salty and dark for my liking. In Japan they use a lighter soy sauce when serving sushi to balance out the sodium. Other than that the ambiance and service was awesome.

So impressed with the food here! We had a wonderful experience with miso shishitos, amazing uni, butterfly roll, sake, lobster gyoza, and cocktails. Can't wait to go back and try more on the amazing menu. We even got to chat with the chef/owner Marcus who was so humble about his awesome menu. Definitely recommen going here.

My coworkers and I enjoyed all the dishes we ate at Cherryfish. Our server Nick gave good recommendations such as their uni, swordfish belly skewers, bison tartare, and wagyu fried rice for shared appetizers and their butterfly sushi roll.

I live 3 blocks away and was so excited to try this a few weeks after it opened. My boyfriend and I walked in at 5:10pm and the restaurant was completely empty. The hostess told us that they were full for reservations that were coming in at 6 and 6:30 and that we could sit at the bar. We had already looked at the menu ahead of time and knew what we wanted to order, so we told her that we would be out by 6:30 and wanted to sit at a table. It was an off putting experience to walk into an empty restaurant and be told that the only seating was at the bar. Food-wise we enjoyed the wagu fried rice, edamame, and toro sushi roll. We ordered the spicy tuna starter and each took a bite but didn’t like it and did not finish. They have built a restaurant with a nice atmosphere and our server was sweet, but the hostess could use a lesson or two in hospitality - we don’t plan to return.
In our first attempt, my girlfriend and I arrived around 1015 on a slow Friday night in an attempt to try the drinks and enjoy the ambiance.
At the door, we were denied service as the kitchen and bar had already closed down for the night. The place was empty and we would have been the only customers so it was understandable for them to turn us down.
In our second attempt, we arrived around 930pm with at least 5 tables present. I told the hostess we would not be dining in and were willing to just sit at the bar. The hostess proceeded to check in with the bartender who denied us service once again. She said she had just closed down the bar and that they would not even serve us drinks. On a Friday night. At 9:30 🤨
We proceeded to walk to the Slowly, which had amazing 9-11pm happy hour where we had a great end to our date night. Highly recommend going to the Slowly!
Not only were we turned down once, but twice, which sort of left me with a bad taste in my mouth, which is weird because I didn’t get to try anything? Do with that what you will, cheers!

We’ve tried to come here twice and were turned away both times during their posted business hours. The first time was about an hour before closing and they said they were closing early, which was understandable since it was empty.
However, when we tried again a couple weeks later about 1.5 hours before closing, there were still a good amount of people seated inside and we were still turned away, even though we were only going to get drinks at the bar.
Turning away customers during service hours is frustrating and makes it hard to see how a business can succeed operating this way. Very disappointing, especially since I was genuinely excited to try this place.

The service was solid and all the details were on point for a relaxed, fancy night out. Each of the dishes had a unique feature to them. I’d come back a second time to try some of the dishes I had to pass on this time. We were happily surprised by the portion sizes.

Pro sushi, thoughtful drinks, wonderful vibe. Could be up-and-coming for the SD food scene for sure. Great for couples or small to medium groups. The owner is very invested in making this an exceptional place and it shows.

Cherryfish was great overall, we decided to check it out a few days after it opened. Cocktails were great to start. We got a few appetizers and a few sushi rolls. The only critiques would be for lack of salt on the edamame, and missing a traditional tempura dipping sauce. The sushi rolls were the highlight and would come back for those. The atmosphere was very chic and modern, great for a date night.
