We had the Huli Huli chicken and the Kahlua pork hoping we’d have the same posit e experience as the North Park location. We were mistaken. Both dishes were bland, and the rice and pork were painfully dry. For $18 a dish, I would expect much more. Waste of money.
I was pretty disappointed with my Poké bowl. First off—red bell peppers? That just doesn’t belong in a Poké bowl. It threw off the whole flavor, and the fish cubes were cut the same size as the peppers, which made the texture and balance feel off.
The bowl was too large, so all the rice ended up compacted at the bottom—hard to eat with chopsticks and kind of frustrating.
What really concerned me was the temperature. Some parts of the bowl were cold
(like they should be), but other areas were room temp. That’s not okay when you’re serving raw fish.
It took 12 minutes from ordering to pickup, which was quick—but $19 plus tax for a bowl like this felt overpriced for what I got.
For that price, I expected fresh, balanced, and safe—not confused, clunky, and questionable. Won’t be back unless things seriously improve
Great experience and fantastic staff. They have a couple gluten-free options and the person I talk to seemed extremely knowledgeable.
San Diego, CA. Mahalo, Malia, for da aloha spirit! She wen make da best shave ice for my hubby. Plus kalua pig. Some ono!
So my Haole husband loves kalua pork and mac salad but we live Florida. His daughter brought us here and first ting he order was da kalua pig plate.
If you kamaaina you going like dis place.
Customer service was not there and portion was smaller than what I’ve had at the other location, in North park.
The staff is fairly young but there was no smile, nor upbeat attitude towards customers. The wait is long which, I don’t mind especially if it’s fresh. I walked away to order a coffee near by while I had been waiting about 15 so minutes, while other orders went out and placed on counter. When I left there were 2 bags that hadn’t been picked up. I got my coffee and went back, where there was an order with no name or any indication it was for me specifically. I asked, “hello, is this for Annie?” and the girl with heavy eyeliner who may be a lead of some sort, replied with, “the names on the ticket!” I kept turning it around because I know I’m not an idiot and checked for that first before I asked. She noticed there wasn’t even a ticket on there but asked “well what did you order?” Which I replied “volcano bowl” but out of all the people who ordered I couldn’t have been the only one with the same order. I’m not gonna take an order that’s not mine or indicated it was mine. So I took the order and grabbed my utensils and left annoyed. And Portion small for the price.

The poke bowl was not very good quality. There seemed to be a lot of crab or imitation crab? Slathered in mayonnaise. With raw red onion and peppers. And it was over $20 with tax. Was looking for a healthy option in the Liberty Market, but this isn’t it.
Edit: appreciate the owners response, giving 4 stars. TIL spicy poke means mayonnaise.

They have excellent volcano bowls with diced mangoes on top of the teriyaki chicken over rice.... Delicious.... It's just that the prices keep going up and up.... Very sad about that

Got their volcano bowl - its hot and amazing. A quick pickup stand in the food hall. Enjoyed eating it outdoors while listening to some live music. I'd order from here again.

Stepped up to order and apparently they weren't open. And apparently they weren't open. That's fine but the guy didn't need to be rude about it.
Reply to owner- I walked up and started to order and the guy (tall guy, short hair, 20-something) just said "we aren't open for another 30 minutes" with an annoyed, rude, tone and walked away. I'm not an idiot, but an employee of a service business might want to respond differently than making it clear he think I am.
A simple, "Hey, sorry, we're not actually open yet, but we will be in 30 minutes if you can wait..." or something with some level of social awareness would be better. I run a business too and I have a few employees that struggle to be more interested in the customer than their own convenience and I have to remind them that the customers are everything.

A solid choice but not amazing Hawaiian food. On the pricey side, a plate will run you about $17, but they offer good portion size. Cheaper than a flight to Hawaii, however.

The pulled pork was really good. At first the portion looked small. But could barely finish it all. Good Hawaiian food.
I've only had good luck here, I've only had good food here, I always order the volcano chicken teriyaki bowl They put freshly diced pineapple and freshly diced mango over the chicken teriyaki, Great sauce, that is totally delicious..... I'm a "total foodie" and I'm extremely intuitive, in-tune and I could tell you that this food here It's always been good and clean and fresh and fast, They also have really wonderful tea selection up on the counter (not too sugarized tea)If I ever experience a negative issue with this restaurant I will come back and change my review but as of right now I think it's one of the best little restaurants here at Liberty Station Point Loma.
