The western burger with onion rings and a vanilla malted shake were fantastic! Cool thing about this diner is you can see the food/drinks made directly from the counter. I really enjoyed the crispness of the onion rings and the unique rich flavor of a malted shake. Friendly customer service and quickly filled order, this spot is a local gem! Will be returning to tackle the hungry man burger :)

Amazing food and phenomenal service. The owner and staff made us feel like family. Although we are from AZ, we plan to be frequent patrons when visiting. Classics Malt Shop exceeded expectations!

I took my grandson to eat a meal and we all had one of the best meal in years. Cheesesteak was the best and bread was fresh. My wife had the burger and she said best one ever. My grandson had the hotdog and was very pleased. I am recommending my whole family to go and try this place. Highly recommend.

Gosh. I like their burgers, big portion, and filling. Their services are quick. I got my food in like 5~7 minutes. They have some homemade ingredients. I wish they can sell those homemade items so I can enjoy them on the go during my vacation. The hotdog is a little bit overcooked. Many of Ice-cream flavors ran out when I arrived, not much to choose. Parking is easy with plenty space. Nice to see many cool old fashion cars, it's like a small town auto show sometimes. Suggestion: Heat up the hamburger bread with an oven can enrich the texture during the meal. Not a bad restaurant!

Unbelievable service and food! Classic diner food as advertised AND spot on flavors and helpings!! Takes you back to Fonzi moments!!! The BEST!!! One note from my husband, "fries left in fryer too long he only ate 3." Same for onion rings, they were dark brown not golden which makes the onion inside mushy. I had to toss but next visit will ask fry cook to keep an eye on them! He gave his burger a 9! He gave his vanilla malt a 10! We will be back!!

We were on our way to Humphreys by the Sea , for a concert, and decided to stop by after hearing rave reviews about the Shop. The food was excellent, I had the Slap burger, with 2, 1/4 lb Pattie's and fries and my wife had the club sandwich . It was more than enough to eat, despite their air conditioning going out on one of the hottest days we gutted it out and enjoyed our meal. Will definitely be back again.

My boyfriend and I tried this place out yesterday and were blown away by the customer service. The owner anticipates any need you could ever possibly have and just obviously has such a genuine desire for every guest to enjoy their visit. I had a burger and fries and they were both really good. Sizeable portions for a very fair price. I'm definitely looking forward to trying more things on my next visit!

Must- try the tasty Turkey burger, shown here with fresh grilled mushrooms. Juicy and very gilling. My hubby had the traditional Classic Cheeseburger w/ 1/2 fries and 1/2 rings. Veggie and other options available for those who don't eat meat. If you have the room, the real ice cream shakes are off the charts amazing! Cookies and cream is my fav. though chocolate or vanilla shakes or malts never disappoint! Too full? Stop by later to cool off enjoy one of these creamy desserts. The two San Diegans who opened Classics Malt Shop years ago are still the friendly faces who take your order and can be seen together as kids in a photo on one of the four walls. Come and taste for yourself why Classics Malt Shop is real local gem!

Great reviews with high expectations didn't quite hit the mark. Ordered American burger, it had zero seasoning and almost no warmth. Fries were not seasoned, cold, but the onion rings were great. The cheese steak was pretty good, but seemed light in the filling. Must be a neighborhood place that has a following. I would not drive to make it here again, just not my thing.

Today was the saddest Paddy Melt I've had from here. The owner wasn't here and I'm sure he wouldn't be happy with this. Burger looked like it was pre-cooked, then held until my order. Maybe a call in order that never got picked up? I just don't know. I've long recommended Classic Malt but this was just disappointing. $23 and no where near as good as an In n Out Double Double.

They make the malts the old fashioned way. I don't like having dairy really but I tasted it and it was seriously insanely delicious. My husband finished it all. Fries are good, love that they're simply cut potatoes. Unlike most fast food places nowadays where French fries consist of about 18 ingredients. The homemade ranch sauce is ridiculously good. My husband liked his bacon cheeseburger except for the fact he realized there was no bacon in it when he was more than half done. I got a hamburger in a lettuce wrap and it was good. Felt like more lettuce around it would've been nice. The patty itself was a little under seasoned. Overall the meal was good and the service was fantastic. They were super friendly, warm and welcoming.

If you can't tell by the pictures then you won't ever get the vibe.... Hidden gem to say the least. This will be a must stop every time we visit Sunny San Diego. Thanks again Classics Team

I've been wanting to try this spot out for awhile and I'm so glad I did. I got the Caliente burger and my friend got a regular cheese burgers. The strawberry shakes were good as well as the fries! The diner was cute and retro.

We have been here twice while visiting beautiful San Diego and both times we have had extraordinary service and amazing food! There's a reason this place has five solid stars on Yelp... they are wonderfully consistent and you will not regret having stopped in!

Gawd!! These burgers are the so incredibly good. The flavor, juiciness, mmmm just delicious. My family is all Burger heads. And they get burgers a lot from other places too. I don't just because I can't eat beef like that. But I ALWAYS make an exception when we eat here! It's so freaking good, I can not pass up on it! I love their shakes! Not so much their malts (just not my thing). Their onion rings are so crispy and good and their fries! Mmm I never finish fries but yea those fries pair perfectly with the burgers! The owner is literally all the time on 100% customer satisfaction guaranteed! He's always smiling, he greets every time he sees us. He remembers my husband and always makes sure to say hi. You can just tell he loves life, loves his business, and loves seeing smiling faces on his customers. It's a really all around great place! Great vibes! Awesome food!
