Pretty loud and tight seating. Felt like we were eating dinner with the tables next to us. The happy hour menu was impressive and all the food was fantastic. Staff was kind and constantly checking in. All in all, would recommend. Just be ready for a decently chaotic experience.

Came in town to see my son and we thought Sushi for dinner. Got high rating for sushi in Little Italy, ok let's give it a try. We were sat up front in the bar area, with no one around, seemed strange. Everyone who came in went into the main dining area. Mmmmmmm. Garlic noodles were good; pretty spicy. We split a sushi roll. No presentation to the plate like most sushi restaurants but it was okay. Server came once to the table. Usually servers will come by a few times. When we were presented the bill, the new hand machine; tip was highlighted at 22%!!! Now maybe if he was attentive but not!!! That left a bad vibe on my mind.

Ugh so disappointing. Coming back to a favorite restaurant after being away from SD from 3 years, and everything has gone down hill. Menu changed (removed our fav roll), service was awful - had to flag down a busser to get our waiter after not seeing her for over 20 minutes (it was 5:45, not busy at all). I’ve been to this place maybe 20 times, but this was a really bad experience. All in all, with all the options now in SD, I won’t be returning here.

Disappointing experience. As someone who's been to cloak and petal many times since its conception several years ago, I was really turned off from ever returning. The woman who served us (if you can call it that) was not attentive at all, I had to ask the bussers on 2 occasions to get our server because we were not getting any service whatsoever, and it was not busy at all. Add to that the fact that they changed their menu, removing our favorite roll, and the subpar drinks for exorbitant prices, my date and I left with a sour taste in our mouths. We won't be returning here, nor will we recommend it to our friends anymore.

The food was outstanding! Sushi was possible the best I've ever had- my kids also ate everything and the restaurant decor and vibe is unmatched! Great spot- highly recommend!

First time here. The vibe was so cool. Great decor. We ordered 4 specialty rolls and the cauliflower appetizer. All were excellent. Waitress was very friendly and helpful. If I lived in CA I'd go a lot.

I'm usually a sushi purist opting for classic sashimi or traditional nigiri, but the speciality rolls here are what subpar sushi restaurants are trying to do. A fusion of textures and flavors that blend perfectly together. Never forced, no one ingredient overpowering the other a true treat!
Add in the extremely attentive service and unique atmosphere and you will have a dining experience you will 100% return to!
The food was unique and interesting, it had good flavor the atmosphere was beautiful, though the service was so bad, we had 8 people so maybe it was because they knew they wer guaranteed 20% gratuity on an $850 bill, but the servers kept reaching over us from 2 seats down and didn't take our orders in together, bad manners it took 30 minutes for someone to get one cocktail. And the food was coming out 1 plate at a time because of how they took the orders. I'd say stick to the bartender where you'll get better service 😏 they never came to ask if we needed anything after bringing the food.

Absolutely LOVED this restaurant for my bachelorette party over the weekend. The atmosphere was vibrant as soon as you walked in and the interior design is beautiful. Our server Karla did a phenomenal job of checking in on us constantly and made sure everything was to our liking. As a foodie I have to say this was genuinely one of the best sushi places I’ve been to yet! The variety of foods had us ordering half the menu and everything was delicious. So happy we decided to come here! Definitely make reservations in advance and can’t wait till I come back.

First time at cloak and petal and it won’t be my last! Amazing service from our bartender Matt and our server Romel. We ordered so much food we were in a food coma after! The chicken kaarage, basic roll, kalbi ribs were great. I love how this place is decorated and I’m really thinking about coming back for my birthday! 🌸💓
