We were enticed to this restaurant in the Gaslamp Quarter by good reviews which proved to be totally unmotivated: the atmosphere was a combination between a sports pub and a frontier cantina, the food was well below average (how can fresh nachos be stale?), the service was terrible. Indeed, we did not get any food poisoning, but the overall rating is ‘Nope’.

Came in yesterday with a few friends and had an amazing time! Matt was amazing and super fun. We actually went back later that evening just to say hi to Matt before we continued our bar hopping journey lol. The owner stopped by and he was super cool too! It's a chill place to hang out for some drinks and good food. We're definitely gonna come back, mostly for Matt lol

Looks and feels like a dive bar, locals day drinking and playing Spanish music videos on the TV, but the drinks and food are awesome! Loaded nachos were the best! Bartender was super nice

Kamekazi shots were good. Rice in the burrito seemed like half cooked. We felt a bit cheated on the price of the burrito in terms of what was mentioned in the menu ($6.5) vs what they charged ($14).

Coastal Cantina has definitely improved since the last time I was here. I really enjoyed it over a year ago but I went last weekend and was impressed. Fun and friendly staff, food was REALLY tasty and you can tell they're getting better quality ingredients and the cocktails were delicious (and strong)! I'll definitely be going back more often!

Not sure how this place got an average of four stars from previous visitors… Everything was extremely average at best. Margaritas were overly sweet, definitely from some kind of a mix. The salsa was good, but the chips were old and premade. Main course was kind of tasteless and really average… Given that we are in San Diego, I would’ve expected much much better Mexican.

Ordered via delivery for a special they were running. We ordered 2 chicken burritos and 2 carne asada loaded fries. It had an option for no pico which I selected, onions otherwise weren't mentioned in the description. Upon getting the delivery all 4 items had onions and lots of them. Definitely don't eat at this place if you have any kind of food allergies!!!

I love dive bars but holy s*** is this place a dump. Filled with strung out knuckleheads and reaking of weed, this is definitely not a place you want to pop into for fish tacos. Avoid.

Had a quick dinner. Fish tacos were good, service quick. Not outstanding but quite enjoyable. They served taco chips and the salsa was very good. Definitely would go back.

We arrived in SD on a Friday around noon for a weekend trip and found this spot exploring around our hotel in the Gaslamp area. There was not another soul in the place, which was surprising to us! But the bartender was friendly and we ordered margaritas and tacos. I got a mango habanero classic marg with carnitas tacos, and my husband got a Cadillac marg with carne asada tacos. Everything was delicious!! Especially the spicy green salsa they serve with the food, and the rice & beans. Definitely recommend!
