I know of Japanese CoCo-Ichi, so I can't stop comparing those. I should say...Japanese one is a little better than American one. But almost same except its price.
You can select degree of spice, and volume of rice.
It was my second time to visit here. My first time, the curry I ordered was very very spicy. I think they made mistake how spicy it is. I wasn't able to eat it but this time (I ate regular level spicy), it was good for me.
I know some people in San Diego like hot food, they must like it.
I recommend a pork cutlet curry with squid flies and 150g rice.
I don’t usually leave reviews, but I had to after today’s visit. I came in during lunch so it wasn’t too busy, and it looked like they were training new staff. Lacy, our server-in-training with orangeblonde hair, was the first person to ever introduce herself at this store. She introduced herself at the beginning and let us know at the end that if we had a good experience, a review on the establishment would be appreciated so here I am.
She was doing amazing. Super sweet, confident, and honestly just adorable. She had a great sense of humor and kept a smile on whether she was helping guests or talking with her trainer. She even took time to play with the kids at tables and made the whole dining experience feel easy and welcoming.
Beyond that, the whole team worked really well together yesterday. Servers were cleaning, bussing, and setting up tables together. Waters were always filled, sodas refilled without needing to ask, and the food came out promptly. Even with staff in training, things ran smoothly. The food was good. Came out in under ten minutes and it was actually mild this time. The Thai tea is also good here, it’s a bit sweet but nothing out of the ordinary.
I’ve had a few so-so experiences at this location before, but earlier in the day felt like a huge step up. If they keep this kind of service going, the rating here will definitely go up. Coco is known to be busy but service is usually mid.
Tried this place for the first time in Tokyo. Visited SD for the weekend and I wanted to have it again. Of course, it wasn’t the same as Japan, but still great. Ordered the chicken katsu curry with egg and a level 5 spice level. I think it was a good level, it wasn’t super spicy. If there was one of these locations closer to me, I’d go more frequently.
First time here and you get to sample the curry! Great customer service as well!
Cutely decorated. Was good ,not great . The service definitely needs work, and more attentiveness is appreciated. Over all its good for its price. There's enough parking ($3)
Freaking amazing. I'll go out of my way to visit any time I'm on the west coast.

We picked this place randomly and we were not disappointed! The curry was delicious and prices reasonable. You can pick your own spice level. This place was also kid friendly! The kids meal came with a small toy. I love a restaurant that keeps the children in mind! The service was also good, kind and friendly. I will definitely be back for more delicious curry!

It was decent. If you are on a rush needs lunch or dinner fast. This place is good. Just hate how a curry bowl is 20 now. Not their fault. I left 4 star because the flavor is more bland compared to what I’m use to. I ordered spicy level 4. It was perfect spicy level. Similar to SB golden curry hot. But golden curry has more flavor. It is more bold, and spice taste is richer. If sb golden curry is 5/5.
