Almost as good as I remember it in Tokyo! The wait was about 35 minutes for a Sunday evening. Once we got in, the service was quick. I love that they have a call button at each seat so when you're ready to order or ready for the bill, the staff is right there to help.

So glad MY FAVORITE JAPANESE CURRY spot is in San Diego! Waited 40min on Friday night at 7PM (heads up: parking sucks). Fast service, ordered & received our food in less than 20min! Garlic nan: MUST. Soft & garlicky, great to dip with your curry! Only $3 and good to share (we got 2 for 4 ppl). Chicken Cutlet Omelette: Crispy & juicy (-1 STAR bc the CUTLER IS SMALLER than the Irvine and Torrance location. INCONSISTENT SIZES between mine & my friend's.) Level 3 wasn't spicy, I would get a 4 or 6 next time! Overall, not the best location but still my favorite chain! Would recommend!

The food was okay, but when I did online ordering through doordash through Yelp, the store made a mistake on the order. They did not include one chicken katsu. When I called to ask about it, they said because the order was not made directly through them, they cannot refund or do anything about it. My email confirmation for the order shows the order correctly, but we received was missing the katsu. I feel like they should have corrective issues since the mistake was on them.

Fast service, and food came out super quick after we ordered. It feels like it's a small space but it seats a decent amount of people. I would say coming in big groups might be a bit of a challenge but it was overall a good experience for two. Chicken cutlet curry with omelette was tasty!

We both ordered the omelette curry, which was really just scrambled egg over the football shaped rice, to add protein to the meal (plus I love scrambled eggs.) The chicken cutlet was also juicy and crispy and the beef was tender (we shared the two dishes). The brown curry was fine, as your traditional Japanese curry, but could have used more flavor even though it had a good taste. (I do not like that you get charged for more spice, even though I generally do mild anyway.) The service was fast. They took our orders and our food came at a timely fashion; they also kept our cups filled with water and checked on us as we ate. How would this be rated a 5? I wish the curry had MORE meat on the plate. I also think that the curry could have some vegetables in there (or the meal could be served with a side of vegetables). Kudos for having variety including Indian. The parking lot (on a Tuesday at 1pm) had a decent number of spaces available.

Not as good as the Japanese original, but not bad. Missing some menu items such as eggplant from the Japanese counter part. Prices are a bit high. Wait times are always high and although the waitlist goes through Yelp you are unable to join without being there in person. Restaurant is clean and laid out nicely, it's small but welcoming.

if you are in San Diego and want to try Japanese curry this place is the spot to try! The curry is a bit sweet and savory but if you love spice definitely do level 15 they have up to level 20. NOW FOR THE SIDES level 10 is enough but choose as you please. Definitely worth the short wait considering how popular it is. Its simple its clean a bit small but overall cute date or friend group spot.

Do not get takeout here and only come in for dine-in service as the portion sizes are inconsistent when ordering takeout. That being said, the omelet is exclusive to in-person only so that's another reason to come inside too. Went here multiple times and the service is always quick and water refills are constant. Curry spice levels are consistent and food overall is good.

Curry is not my first choice of food but it was good after a long night out and the weather was chilly. I wish I knew about the yelp wait list to reduce wait times while driving there. Oh well, next time. It was about 45 mins for a party of 5 on a Sunday night. The menu is massive. I got the Garlic naan, garlic fries and Pork cutlet omelet with mushrooms. The garlic naan and fries were not good. 3/5 at best. The naan had too much butter and was just dough like. Not fluffy like other naan's I've had. The fries were dry and not garlic like. Curry was really good. I got regular with regular rice. Rice portions are larger on regular curry and not the omelet. My dish was delicious but I wish whomever put together my dish didn't pour curry all over my pork cutlet. It was soggy. I did love the mushrooms in my dish! I would come back again in the future when i am craving curry.

So so so so good, love the chicken cutlet curry omelette! I always get level 4 but 5 is good too. It's always kinda busy unless you go during the week around noon, but even if there's a wait it's worth it. Super big portion I always get so full.

This was the first time I was having this. Usually I buy the curry from the commissary and make it myself. Very good great portion and the garlic nan was amazing definitely will be back!

cheese naan (3.8/5): nothing special, naan is not fresh but it did taste good with the curry. curry w/ thinly sliced beef and vegetables (4/5): very good! i prefer to get the thinly sliced beef w/ vegetables, i think it taste better than the pork/chicken katsus. the onions and potatoes make the dish for me. i got a level 7 but it wasn't spicy at all, but our server was nice and brought out a bowl of extra curry sauce that was actually spicy. the curry plates here are VERY filling, my bf & i can rarely ever finish our own plates. the curry here is not very consistent, sometimes it's flavorful & thick, other times it's bland & water-y. i think the curry was really good when this location first opened, and the irvine location is a lot more consistent in the food they serve. imo it's a pretty heavy meal so it's better shared and use a looooootttt of the pickles! overall, good, quick, & easy meal.

We stumbled upon CoCo Ichibanya on Convoy, specializing in curry cuisine. The staff were nice and the interior was clean. It was a bit busy when we visited in early March. We only had to wait about 15 minutes before we got seated. We liked the tables and seats made out of maple wood, almost like those Japanese-style chabudai tables but taller. I had the pork cutlet which came with white rice, lots of curry sauce and some creamers. The food was tasty. We will certainly stop by again in the future.

The chicken curry was good, the naan bread was also delicious! The portion size for the curry is pretty big. very filling because it comes with a lot of rice. Although the food was good, I personally don't think it is worth waiting over 30 minutes for but you can order ahead! I don't like that you have to pay more to get it spicy and there are a lot of options to add on for an additional price. I do like that there's solo dining seating arrangements for introverts. If I get this again, I would prefer to order take out since parking in the plaza is hit or miss.
