I came for afternoon tea for my birthday. I'm vegan with multiple food allergies. It can make finding places that can accommodate my dietary needs challenging. We called and made reservations for Queen's Tea about a week in advance and let them know of my dietary issues. They said they were able to accommodate us so we were hopeful.
They seated us right away and had a pot of tea already on the table. It was a coconut black tea. I can't drink caffeine so I wanted to order another tea. They were out of about half of the non-caffeinated teas but had a decent amount to choose from. Here comes the first downside: they didn't come back for about 10 minutes to tell us about the teas but they didn't take our tea order. Someone else dropped of our fruit salad and left without taking our order. They finally took our tea order after we had been there for 30 minutes.
They next served our food. Even though we asked for the Queen's tea, we didn't get it served on the tier tray, just all of the food on one plate. It had 2 tea sandwiches (same filling but one on white and the other on whole wheat), sweet potato puffs, a spring roll (which I'm not 100% was vegan), a small salad, a small chocolate brownie, 3 bite sized cookies, and a shot glass of berries. We also didn't get any scones, which is pretty standard in any tea service.
I'm disappointed in the types of food served as it wasn't traditional (especially compared to the other tables). I understand that vegan changes a lot but I've been to many different afternoon teas and they have been much more traditional.
Now our tea didn't come out until about 30 minutes AFTER our food and they didn't have any non-dairy milk.
Overall, not happy with the service, the food was underwhelming, we didn't get scones or a 3 tier tray, the tea was served WAY too late.
I would have preferred they warn us ahead of time that the experience was going to be so different and they weren't able to accommodate certain things (non dairy milk for the tea, a full tea experience). Not to mention we payed full price for it (over $100 for 2 people).

Every year we visit CA, my daughters and I have afternoon tea here. The service, attention, and fare is above and beyond consistently. The house is on beautiful historic property as well, making for wonderful photo opportunities ❤️
Great place to sit down and have a conversation without loud music while enjoying a variety of goodies with some flavorful tea.

Had Afternoon Tea Reservations May 18, 2024. We were with Good Times Travel Tour. When we walked in all the tables were beautifully set. We were first served the House Tea called Coral Tree Tea. It is a black tea with chocolate and coconut. Loved it so much I purchased 2 bags!! Highly recommend this flavor!! The food was delicious! Took home leftovers. Service was fantastic! Everyone was so nice! The whole experience was absolutely wonderful! Highly recommend the Coral Tree Tea House!

Our reserved group had nine people. We were seated in the front room next to the little shop. Pam and Blanche were our guides and there was also a gentleman. The ladies were so sweet, took our photos, and told us some interesting history. First, we were given the house tea, Coral Tree Tea. Second, we picked two more as a table. Third, we were given a three tier plate offering savory and sweet treats. They gave us a bracelet and showed us a coin. There is one bathroom in the building. I hope to return. I think it would be so fun to work here!
Parking: Old Town is notorious for having limited parking, so give yourself extra time. There were around 16 spaces. We walked up a small incline cobble stone path past the different houses to a round about. It says a different name on the front than Coral Tree Tea House.

Located in a park near Old Town, Coral Tree Tea House is a true gem for tea enthusiasts and those seeking a charming culinary experience. The accessibility of parking spots made our visit hassle-free. We opted for the Queens HighTea—an exquisite 1.5-hour affair from the apple salad to the array of assorted Tea and Savory Sandwiches. The petite desserts and homemade pastries were a true highlight. They accommodate dietary restrictions without compromising on taste or quality. It's evident that they take their tea, food, and service seriously—the attention to detail was impeccable. The experience was made even more memorable by the engaging and lovely ladies who shared insights into the history, business, and ethos behind their concepts and products. One important note: reservations are a must, and they exclusively take them via phone call.
The lovely ladies at the Coral Tree House are an absolute delight. This was my second time there and it won't be the last. A large selection of perfectly brewed tea accompanied by a heavenly assortment of sandwiches and desserts. From black to herbal to flavored there's something for everyone. If you're ever in San Diego do yourself a favor and make a reservation. A word to the wise: come hungry. The food might look "cute and small" but you will be more than full with plenty to take home with you.

I'm trying to get in touch with someone to cancel a reservation for Friday 8/25/2023. I have to cancel since the other person in my party can't make it now, as she was affected by the tropical storm. I left a detailed voicemail on Monday. I tried again today and it says the voicemail is full. This is pretty unacceptable for a business, especially since they require a deposit and there is literally no way to reach them to cancel or reschedule a reservation. It seems that I'm not the first person to encounter this issue, as several reviews mention the lack of communication. I would appreciate it greatly if someone would contact me. If not, I may have to contact my bank and the BBB.
