Loved Cowboy Star! The Bone-in Ribeye was really good. We had two other highlights. The sides we ordered including the mushrooms and the cauliflower were great! A true sign of a great restaurant. We also sat at the counter and watched the kitchen staff working hard to put all the meals together which added to the evening. Nice experience!
Hands down the best steakhouse experience in San Diego. Everything on the menu including the steaks is always meticulously prepared and delicious. The best wedge salad on any coast, their house made bacon is an experience in and of itself! If you're a banana fan, their “Banana Pudding” dessert is the ultimate experience. The miso banana ice cream alone is worth the visit! Add in their always welcoming knowledgeable service and you cannot miss this spot!
This was truly the best steak we have ever had anywhere. 14oz Rib Eye was incredible. Steak Tartare was fabulous. Pretty pricey but absolutely no complaints! Definitely recommend!
Iconic for a reason. Outstanding cocktails, we tried T-bone, NY Strip and Ribeye steaks, all cooked perfectly. Sides delicious with vegetables cooked just right. Wonderful service. A fun night out. $$$$ but worth it.
We enjoyed our anniversary dinner there on a Saturday night. Every aspect of the dinner and experience was great. It was an energetic and bustling restaurant but it still felt intimate and the noise level was no issue.
I've said it a hundred times: This is the best steak house in Southern California. I've recommended it to all my friends, family, and every single tourist that asks where to have the best dinner in town.
Outstanding food, service and vibe. Great steakhouse experience with a 'nod' to an Austin or Nashville vibe.
Our server was a baller handling the whole section and some wack guests next to us all at the same time. Food was excellent and the playlist was banging. Thank you so much!

It has been well before the pandemic since I was last here... but I had 5 or 6 meals here... and it was always spectacular.
I just may be heading back to San Diego in October and I will be stopping in.
The best new thing I had was the beef tartar. So F@$king good.
I also picked up a nice chunk of Hokkaido Waygo that I cooked at home. Amazing.
Obviously I can't recommend Cowboy Star enough.

Cowboy Star Restaurant is probably the best steakhouse I have ever been to. The service and staff are top notch! On top of that the food is very delicious. We ordered the porter house steak for 2 with shrimp, the brussel sprouts and the Wedge salad. The portions were large and shareable. Our bill was a little steep but well worth the price. We will definitely be back.

It was our anniversary so they put us in the backroom, otherwise it would have been a little too loud. That backroom is good for a private dinner. They do not have their own parking, so plan to be there earlier in advance. Also, think about the Padres games or concerts; we almost missed our booking time. Overall, good food, good service, and a good location.
Probably the best steak I've ever had. I ordered the filet with 2 scallops. The filet and the scallops were perfectly cooked. I loved the atmosphere, the country western music was just at the right sound level that you could hear everyone at the table and our waiter John was very professional and engaging. Wonderful dining experience!
One of the few steakhouses worth going to. No matter what we order the food always comes out better than expected. From the moment you walk in the door till you leave, the service is spot on. The bartenders are brilliant masters at mixing drinks, even ones not on the menu. We make it an annual date night and look forward to returning.
Parking: Probably around 6 paid lots around the area, prices vary depending on what events are happening down town.
Wheelchair accessibility: They have a massive front door and no steps in the building that I noticed. Don't see accessibility being a concern here.

TRUST ME.........
Wife and I decided off the hip to go out for a nice steak dinner on vacation. After some research, most people said this was the steakhouse to go. And they were not wrong!
Upon entering, we were greeted, and reservations were booked till 9pm. Crazy on a Thursday night, but that's how good this place is. So they told us we could sit at the single chairs that were open in front of the bar/dessert making counter. We chose the dessert counter, and come to find out later, it was the head chef that was making the desserts. Never got his name, but he was so personable and fun to talk to about what he was making. We order the 40oz porterhouse for 2, and added on the bacon Mac and cheese, and a twice baked potato. The porterhouse was cooked to perfection, the mashed potatoes were the most delicious potatoes I've ever had, and I live in Idaho, and the bacon Mac and cheese was so creamy and cheesy with thick cuts of bacon. The flavor profiles in my mouth were going crazy. We decided we'd ask the chef what he would recommend for dessert. We got the banana pudding with dulce de leche. I've never imagined it to be like that. He toasted the banana on top, and the ice cream had roasted cinnamon sticks we watched him make. It was like a dinner and a show. Will definitely go back any and every time to this Steakhouse, and you should definitely do the same. You won't be disappointed, just make sure you make a reservation ahead of time as it is that popular.
