Terrible experience, nothing Italian about it!

I came to this restaurant expecting an authentic Italian experience, but I was deeply disappointed. The pasta was completely overcooked, with no texture at all, and the sauce was bland and flavorless. Calling this place an “Italian restaurant” is an insult to real Italian cuisine.

The service was just as bad: inattentive staff, long waiting times, and a lack of professionalism. We had to ask multiple times for water, and our requests were mostly ignored. Definitely not worth the visit!

Authentic, wonderful Italian food. Fresh pasta. I was so happy when I saw real carbonara and cacio e pepe on their menu. I haven’t had guanciale in years. They even have arribbiata sauce. I’ve had to make all of these meals at home because it’s so uncommon to see them made traditionally at restaurants… until today! Delicious food.

We did door dash, so I can't actually comment on things like service or atmosphere. What I can comment on is the food. The desserts were exceptional, but my Pink Salmon Vodka pasta was inedible. The pasta was doughy without being flavorful, but that's not what bugged me. The salmon in the dish tasted musty, like the scent of an old lakeside cabin that has been shut for the winter, and you're walking in to open it up in spring and it smells like an old attic chest full of great-grandpa's mildewy old papers and clothes.

At 59, I've never tasted salmon like this, so I Googled, "What would make salmon taste musty?"

Answer was, "Fish can taste musty due to a compound called geosmin, which is produced by algae and bacteria in the water where the fish are raised. Farmed fish absorb geosmin through their gills, which can cause the fish to taste musty."

I took two bites. First bite was mostly pasta, dough-like but not awful. Second was a mouthful of musty salmon. I didn't want to wake in the night yakking my guts out because the fish tasted funny, so I stopped eating.

I'd rather be hungry in the night than regretful.

This is the most unexpected gem at the mall. I got the pesto with gnocchi and it was delicious. I absolutely can’t wait to go back and try more. It was incredibly convenient and great portion sizes for the price. Both my husband and I split the gnocchi and still had some left over. I’m not even a big fan of cannolis but I want to try one from there because it looks incredible.

Hair in the pasta is never a good look

Pretty awful experience. My family grabbed take out. All our dishes got clumpy and starchy (overcooked) despite sauces and toppings. Our son who never says no to pasta in any form could not even stomach more than a few bites. None of the noodles separated so you had to eat cut chunks off the mass. Unlikely to revisit.

Wonderful pasta, esp., sausage and mushroom. The cheesy pasta can be very heavy though.

De Nunos is located in the food court at UTC Mall. They are located near the entrance. There’s a process when you order. You start with your pasta of choice. Then you select your sauce. I chose fettuccine and the creamy mushroom and sausage sauce. The flavor was a little on the bland side. I guess I could e asked for a little more salt.

Probably some of the worst pasta I had in San Diego. The pasta was very undercooked and my cacio e pepe barely had any pepper. Reminded me of michelina brand Alfredo pasta.I also noticed this restaurant has several 5 star reviews from newly made accounts with only 1 review on their account.

I had an amazing experience dining here! First of all, the food was delicious. I got lunch here with my work and everybody loved what they got. We had the ragu, carbonara, creamy mushroom and sausage, gorgonzola, pomodoro, and the amatriciana. Everything was phenomenal. The service was absolutely amazing and the people on the phone were so sweet and helpful. I would recommend anyone to eat here! Also two of us are gluten free and they had great options for that too :)
