Absolutely never again. My son and I reluctantly decided to try the brisket and it was so so bad. That smoked flavor and texture is just off. We both got a 24 hour stomach bug somehow after eating this food. Very suspicious meat.

I chose to rate at 5 stars because it’s one of the best BBQs i’ve eaten at hear in San Diego- it a five star for SD. I got the Three Meat Platter with two sides. Good flavors in the brisket, and pork ribs. Of the two pork ribs one was the end piece and the smoked surface was a little too chewy. But the other was fall off the bone and moist as you would expect to enjoy when ordering a smokehouse pork rib. For my third meat i got the pulled pork and it was excellent. The sauces were all good but with a good vinegar taste in the “original” flavor and the other two were very eatable but too sweet for my tastes. I usually only use very little sauce unless the meat needs some flavor or texture help. All of the meats were excellent and I only used extra sauce on the rib end piece. The meat on the ribs had enough stick to make it to my chompers and slid iff the bone just shy of fall off when you pick it up, very nicely done. My sides were 2x fried okra. Growing up on my Texas panhandle raised grandma’s fried okra i know what I like and luckily these were great. I’m leaving my plate like you would expect a satisfied BBQ customer to leave it- empty. Don’t eat rolls/buns so I can speak to the one that came with the meal. I’ll be coming back to this SD-5-star BBQ. ~$23 for the 3 meat plate.

A week later I stop in, and remembering that the end piece they gave me had been chewy, I ask not to be give an end piece. The fellow serving me prepared my plate and gave me the end piece. I mentioned, he said it was “extra” Fortunately it wasn't as dried out as the one before. The exchange made me think this guy would spit in my food, if I came back… 3/14/25

So here's my experience with this place. Last year we collected donations for our Little League Fundraiser. Each team has a theme and ours was "Taste of Clairemont." Our team divided and conquered getting gift cards, from various places in Clmnt, we went to Dickey's and were given $30 in gift cards. The night of the fundraiser my wife and I bid on our team basket and won it. Fast forward almost a year later and I go to use the gift cards, and I'm told they're not valid. The owner/manager drills me about where I got them, and I tell him, "from you." He argues with me, saying he doesn't remember, why did I wait a year, etc... basically trying to poke holes in my story, and acting very similarly the way other people have explained in other posts here. I walked out with out my order and was furious.

Now, I understand that if they're not valid and there's no receipt it looks suspicious. But here's the FACT, this guy handed ME these gift cards last year for a little league fundraiser donation. After my recent interaction with him I believe he knew they were bunk at the time and that why it's the one receipt we don't have (we literally have all the receipts).

I guess we're lucky it happened to us, because how embarrassing it would be for someone else to pay money for a gift basket with bunk gift cards we collected.

P.S - I've eaten here once since you came to Clairemont. Your food isn't that good which is why I waited a year to use them.

Thanks for the fake gifts cards and arguing with me about how I got them.

Got the two meat plate. Brisket and turkey. Brisket was fantastic! But the turkey was kind of a joke. It looked like deli meat bits. Flavor was not good. Also, the menu specifies the plate comes with "texas toast", but we got a dinner roll. Bread is bread is bread but dang.
However, the service was great. Both employees were incredibly friendly! And they gave a sweet barbeque sauce station.

Way too expensive for what you get. $15 for the same sandwich you can get for a few dollars somewhere else. No thank you! I spent $36 for two sandwiches that are worth $6.

False advertisement, they display a proper portion of corn on the cob but bring you the tiniest piece and charge ya $4 for it. Cheapskates. Better off ignoring this place, sad cuz other food is pretty decent and yet they insult customers with expecting them to be okay with that sort of pricing for barely a side and displaying a much bigger piece.

Mediocre fast food BBQ with small portions for the price you pay. Menus is out of date so you don't get what you think you're ordering. Then the soft serve ice cream machine is out of order and there's no soap in the bathroom. I left feeling really frustrated like I'd just wasted 40 bucks on fast food made in some central location and warmed back up on site, that's how it tasted anyways.

I've spent money @ this location before & have been a small-time customer for some years now, food's great & all that but... anytime you get a coupon for a free sandwich or something, you're considered SUSPICIOUS, make sure to bring your ID, social security card, green card, proof of residence & more... especially if it's more than once; you're immediately labeled a "SCAMMER/HACKER" by management & also say they just cannot "find" my "free" order(cancelled by manager) after they called me about it... beforehand😄. Question is, why send me coupons you can't honor?

"paranoid arabs, whatcha gonna do?🤷"

Anyways in conclusion; sent multiple voicemails & emails to Dickeys Corporate, it's been weeks & not a single squeak. Just about as responsive as a dead corpse (see for yourself, see the pic!😵)... & I thought Dickeys was a serious company that cared about the customers' experience🫤.

"☝️msg for paranoid arab #1: brisket instead of pork love?😉"

Do not get the brisket It is very dry. The three meal combo was almost like a kids meal. Although they do have good service because I had trouble applying a coupon on the website and he ended up giving it to me anyways

Food was good and sauce was great. Ordered the 3 meat dinner with fries and maccaroni. Meats were good small portions for it. It was like 3 kids meals in one lol. Maccaroni wasn't the type I like but it's up to preference if you like allot of cheese or more like a sauce. Fries tasted mediocre at best, very starchy like I microwaved them and seasoning was minimal. I ordered a extra side as the baked potato also, it was giant but very good. I would give it a 3 star due to the portion sizes of the meat to the price. The pictures of what you think your going to get is very misleading. Compared to other bbq places locally I receive much more serving and better taste with out sauce needed compared to this place. Save you money and go else where unless you want a baked potato tbh

I ordered a three meat meal and got ripped off got a very small portion for 30 dollars wouldn't suggest going here. Nor do I plan on ever going back based on what I experienced.
