I wish there were more places like this around town. I had a cousin come into town and she asked me to go back here. The bill was reasonable I would say. Food is like a restaurant in Louisville I loved.

We had no problems getting in with a large party either. Really accommodating. And the tiramisu was perfect!

The food was so savory. Looking forward to returning with my friends. This place has a good design. Feels similar to a cafe in Chicago I liked.

Nice place to relax, people watch, eat good, etc. I will be bringing family next time. Prices are decent.

This place will surprise you. Prices are fair. Feeling here is similar to a cafe in San Jose I liked.

This was a great steak house. Wonder how many customers they screwed over with gift cards. I had $400 in gift cards. I guess anything spanos family has a financial interest in will make bad decisions.

So the wife and I went to Donovan's Steak and Chop House for dinner and the staff are very courteous and professional. Three of them work as a team with Charles as the leader and they made sure that we were well taken care of. I can't say I'm a big fan of Lamb but if I ever have it again I hope it's just as good as it was here. We had what they called " Lamb Chop Lollipops " for the appetizer and it was da bomb! It comes with a baked potato kinda hollowed out and filled with Ranch dressing. My better half had the Alaskan King Crab and I had the Bone-in Beef Ribeye steak (I think it was 24oz) and my steak was great. I can't speak about the crab legs cause I can't eat them but I can say that my wife was pleased because she didn't gripe about a single thing. Her salad was awesome too. In fact IMO it could make for a great lunch meal by itself. We ended with the Tripple Chocolate Brownie with Haagen-dazs vanilla ice cream and slowly waddled out to the car. Truly an experience that you should share with someone special. The atmosphere is like during the 50s or 60s with music from Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles and others from that era. It is kinda dark in the restaurant but still light enough to see what you're getting. Yes it can be expensive but it was great to be catered to and for the wife to have everything the way she wanted. Win Win for me.

Classy place. Great service in a setting to match. The prime rib tenderloin melted in my mouth and the garlic mashed potatoes were delicious.

After learning about the sad closing of the La Jolla location, I tried to stay committed to my favorite steakhouse in town, but I'm starting to get the feeling the downtown location might be next to go. Dined around 6:30 pm on a weeknight and the place was dead- maybe 3-4 tables filled. I found it a bit odd, but accepted it's just a weeknight in February. Ordered a filet, Caesar salad, and onion rings. The filet itself was as expected, but it was served with vegetables with a raw, rock hard texture. The Caesar salad was tasty, but a bit small for $13. The onion rings were a big disappointment, falling apart the moment you touch them. Maybe I just had a bad experience, but when you don't have the ocean views to distract you a bit, these issues become more glaring.

Nice upscale place. They however didn't have a highchair (who doesn't have a highchair?!) And I had to hold my baby for our entire dinner. My steak also had to be sent back and cooked longer because it was too rare. Everything tasted good though!

Everything about this restaurant was impeccable. The steaks were very very good. The service was excellent. The server was very helpful to find food a four year old would eat. I would recommend Donovan’s lemonade as a cocktail.

This place has gone downhill. I have come here for years and have always ordered the steak salad. It is no longer on the menu and even though they have all the ingredients for the salad and have the steak, they won't make me one. May very well be my last trip. Very disappointing experience. They wanted me to order a $52 8oz filet and a $13 salad and then I would have the steak salad. I don't think so.....!
