When my spouse died, instead of giving me time off as I request. The owner fired me. If you support this place, shame on you and shame on dona luz. C u next Thursday

My husband and I have been looking for delicious, authentic mexican restaurants and I’m glad we stumbled upon this place as we strolled through North Park. The food was delicious! Out of this world! The place was surrounded with beautiful colors with a beautiful Mexican aesthetic theme. The server was extremely friendly, welcoming and kept checking in to see if we needed anything else. I will definitely be coming back! 10/10.

Best Mole in the city that I have found. Friendly staff. A little bit expensive, but thats only because I paid for chips and guacamole, but the guacamole is too good not to have it with your meal.

Super cute place and the food is all homemade and delicious. They even have a full bar and two patios. Super glad we chose here to eat!

Great meal! The queso fundido wasn’t super flavorful but they had chicharrones and the rest of the meal was great. Definitely will come back to try the fish!
Edited: changed my review to 5 stars after our second visit. The whole fish was perfect, as was the burrito. Fantastic service and they were even patient enough to let us practice our Spanish 😆

A hidden gem in North Park. The food is authentic and unique. Highly recommend trying a few of their tacos, including smoked marlin and cochinita pibil. Everything is delicious and reasonably priced.
El Comal did a beautiful job catering our 100 person wedding! Cris was a dream to work with on collaborating on a largely vegetarian-friendly menu and delicious mocktail and cocktail menu. During our tasting he offered us samples of items we hadn’t considered, and ended up adding their wonderful ceviche to the cocktail hour and it was a huge hit! They were well equipped with all the plates, silverware, chafing dishes, prep tables and linens, and bartending supplies, and also supplied garnishes and ice for the drinks. Cris also offered guidance on us ordering alcohol to supply the bar, which was more budget friendly, and both Cris and his mother (the head chef) made time to attend a venue walk through with our coordinator, which helped streamline plans a lot. All of the food was a huge hit, and we were so glad to share the food from this special San Diego establishment with our guests. And the best part is, we can visit them any time we want to remember our wedding over a beautiful, love-filled meal! Thank you, El Comal!

Everything they made is fresh. Very flavorful. We went there as a group, and everybody like what they ordered. They even make fresh pita chips.
The server was very friendly and genuinely seemed to care.
The place is not super upscale, but the food is excellent. Good value for the money.
We'd definitely go there again
