It’s great cheap tacos. They are 1 dollar each and you can order a maximum of 12 tacos! They are delicious i spent 6 dollars with taxes for 5 tacos and I left happy. It was busy so it took a while to get my food but it’s worth it.

10/10 Carne asada fries. My favorite, and I've had a lot of Carne asada fries.

I stopped by El Jefe on the boardwalk in Mission Bay, hoping for a quick taco fix. I ordered two tacos for $6 — and what I got was genuinely shocking. They handed me two miniature tacos that were barely more than one bite each. I honestly thought it was a mistake at first. For the price, this was beyond disappointing — it felt like a rip-off.
It’s embarrassing that a business would serve something so small and still charge full price like it’s a normal portion. Tourists and locals alike deserve better value. I won’t be coming back, and I’d recommend skipping this place unless you're looking for overpriced sample-sized food.

The tacos were good enough, but not spectacular. The price was right, but only because we went on a Tuesday. There's no way I would have paid more than a dollar for the tiniest mediocre taco in the world, which is what we're talking about here. The atmosphere was nice, but how much credit should they get for pleasant weather on a beach? And it's not like there's an inside seating option. And finally.. omg. We waited 30 minutes for the 6 tiny tacos we bought. Did the staff all leave as we arrived? Why would it take 30 minutes to make 6 tiny tacos?
Still better than the girl there who was there before us and waited an hour for her 6 tiny tacos. Bet she doesn't stop there on her way to work again.

After being on the beach for 3 days we thought we would go walk around. We stopped here for a quick bite. Carne Asada tacos were fair. Chicken Tacos had some good kick of heat. Fish tacos were not good. Fish was fried bad, slaw on top was way too much and sauce was bland. You can find much better just down the street on ventura place. They made you pay for water. Said you were paying for the cup. I get it. It would suck to have to keep providing water cups to everyone that asked on the beach. Then asked for a refill, they said they couldn't reuse the cup. So much for reduce reuse recycle. So you spend almost $100 and can't get water...rediculous.
