Fays is a great diner! Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. I hope they get enough support to stay for a very long time.

One of my go-to spots for breakfast! The restaurant is always clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is consistently excellent. You can really tell everything is made in-house and with care. They frequently offer new specials and seasonal dishes, which keeps the menu fresh and exciting. The service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is welcoming. Definitely worth a visit—you won’t regret it!

What a gem. Everything is made from scratch. We had cinnamon roles, eggs, hashbrowns, sausage (half made patties of course) omg with fresh squeezed OJ. All was wonderful! And our server was present without being intrusive. Lovely.

My favorite breakfast spot in all of SD. I drive across town to get here, and it's always great.
Update: still the best!

I ordered the Cowboy Burger (no arugula) and it was delicious but the country potatoes were overcooked. I’ve never spent more than $15 ever. This burger cost me 22 bucks thanks to inflation. Overall, though, I’m satisfied.

We came in as a group of 8 senior citizens. The waitress was very nice and attentive. Everyone enjoyed their meals. They add a service fee to your bill at the end and don't tell you about that. I don't get it. Don't they appreciate making more money off of 8 of us than if we were just 2 or 3 people? They should give us a volume discount. Then they automatically charge a 20% tip. Another thing I don't get. Why don't they charge every table an automatic tip? Charge some and not others? At least we are all grouped together and the server doesn't have to walk around to 4 different tables or such. I mean like why don't they just pay their employees a decent wage? So whatever price you see on the menu, be sure to add the mandatory fees and of course tax. To be clear, I don't mind a tip but I don't appreciate being forced into what they say just because we are a group.

I found this place here through someone I follow on Instagram and had it saved in my memory, So when an impromptu plan business to get branch around this area. I knew we had to come check out Fays!

Really lovely aesthetic and everyone working there was also so kind. We made a lot lot lot lot of customers to our order and they actually made note of everything and delivered on it.

Husband got the Hot Chocolate and it was so smooth and delicious. Quite large portion size as well.

A friend got the Orange Juice and the couple said it was some of the freshest they have had in a really long time.

Sauteed Veggies (with side salad) For super delicious! I think I actually liked it more than my sandwich, haha. It was a mix of broccoli and peppers and onion and some mushrooms and spinach as well. Really nice flavoring and everything went well together. There was quite a lot of volume for this as well.

Husband got the Classic Eggs Benedict and he quite liked it.

One of our friends got the Veggie Delight Egg White Scramble with hash browns and some soyrizo on the side And seemed to enjoy it. There was so much on that plate that they were not able to finish it!
Big shout out to the massive portion size again.

Another friend got a veggie burrito (California Burrito without fries or carne asada.. So it was basically just guacamole, pico de gallo, crema, cheddar, and jack cheese) And actually enjoyed it so much! Tortilla was crispy on the outside and they finished the whole thing!

I got the Grilled Chicken Deli Sandwich on sourdough, with a side salad. I'd quite a large side Saturn then and good amount of chicken in the sandwich as well. I asked for garlic aioli on the side because I was trying to avoid some extra calories and they accidentally forgot to bring it. I just put some ketchup and mustard in there and it was A little plain but not too bad. There were also pickles in the sandwich which to be honest were not my favorite or maybe they just weren't as strongly flavored compared. Maybe if those pickles were a little better than the whole sandwich would have been a big hit.

Overall really good food with quite big potions sizes and loveliest aesthetic of the place too.

A fairly new dog-friendly, country diner in the Scripps Ranch area. I rarely make it over to this part of town and actually came from the coast specifically for this diner and overall I’m happy that I did so although we had some minor issues. Parking is extremely easy because it’s attached to a large shopping center with plenty of spaces. It was quite crowded when we arrived, but we did not have to wait at all to be seated indoors. They do have limited outdoor seating, but most seating options are indoor. Our server was very polite and all of our food items came out pretty quickly. I would say pricing is fair and the portion sizes are medium. I do like all the turquoise on the interior and feel based on the menu options and the design inside that it’s more of a country diner than a retro diner.

The issues that we had were minor, but still resulted in a 4/5 for me. I ordered the Salted Caramel Cold Brew, which I did enjoy although the cold brew was quite bitter. Next came the Spicy Southwestern Chicken Soup and this was actually great. I would definitely get it again and would highly recommend it. For my meal I chose the Country Benedict and overall it was pretty good. The eggs were overdone, so they were not runny at all. The biscuits were quite dry and not fluffy at all so kind of left a dry taste in my mouth and made me have to take a drink after every bite. Also the country fried steak was a bit too overdone in my opinion and feel that they fried out all of the flavor. I did enjoy the side of hashbrowns and would give it another try but next time I would order a different dish. Overall, I have had better in San Diego, but I’ve definitely had worse and given the limited diner options in town I do think it’s worth a visit if you are a fan of diners or are in the area.

This restaurant still charges surcharge fees despite this being outlawed!
