This one is not even as good as the santee or Little Italy. They do not follow the recipe for sauce. My pizza was missed the pepperoni and other toppings. The manager was able to find one pepperoni. I felt like he was going out of his way to to prove. That nothing was wrong with the pizza. The lady said they made the wrong pizza. I really don’t understand how every single Felipe’s other than a few of them. The sauce taste completely different. I ate part of a slice. It did not even remotely taste close to Santee, Little Italy, or Mission Valley. Their sauce has way too much oregano and something else in it. It literally burns your tongue. People were very nice here and the service was nice. Also, the manager was very nice. Just not right to make someone stand around 10 minutes or 15 minutes because only one person and the entire place can do a refund. They offer me a free pizza next time I came I don’t want it. I don’t want free food or replacement food. I just want my food the way I order it the first time that’s all it takes to make me happy. I literally just drove 40 miles round-trip to go get a good pizza from Santee.

The food was not great. I had a margarita pizza and the tomatoes were chopped instead of being sliced. The cheese tasted old. The antipasto salad had 4 pieces of meat and only lettuce. Very disappointed.

The food was great, but the service was unusually bad. We were there last night at around 6 pm, a party of three. We collectively ordered a small Antipasto Salad, some of the bread you can ask them for, a Diet Coke, a glass of Chianti wine, and another soda. Shrimp Fettucini Alfredo, Beef Ravioli with Marinara, and Spaghetti from where we sat, a member of our party had a clear view inside the kitchen. The wine and Diet Coke came out after about five minutes, but then the other soda took an additional five, as our server was standing there talking to another member of staff right next to the fountain. I ordinarily wouldn't mind this but if you have just brought a table two of their three drinks and the third one is waiting on a drink that takes ten seconds at most, I would imagine you would ordinarily wait until after everyone at the table you are waiting on has their drinks to chat with your coworkers. The Antipasto Salad and the entrees themselves arrived in VERY quick succession. Which isn't much of a complaint I had as opposed to my brother who had found it unusual. It took ten to fifteen minutes after the last person finished their food for the server to check on us, during which time we debated getting dessert and concluded we weren't willing to wait the twenty minutes we suspected it would take for our server to get to it and bought dessert elsewhere. We ordinarily leave tips any time we eat out but on this occasion we opted not to. The service here is usually great, but on this occasion, we feel our server missed the mark.Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, though depending on the size of the wheelchair you may have some difficulty getting in between tables and moving around the restaurant itself due to the spacing between the tables.

The food was good and tasty, but the shining star goes to Cori! She was nothing short of amazing! She treated us better than any server ever has. We were coming from out of town, so it was nice to eat some real Italian food. I suggest to try everything but my personal fav was the ceaser salad and canoli dessert. But the meatball was flavorful and the manicotti is something I'll get again next time we go, and I assure you there will be a next time! Thanks again to the cook and staff for making our experience a very memorable one!

This is our 1st time here and it's much better than the one we have in Escondido. Very nice inside & clean and great friendly & fast service. We sat in the bar. Nice cold beers. Great tasting seasoned bread and soft butter. We split the small anti-pasta salad and it was big enough for both of us plus some left over. Great dressings too. My wife got the shrimp linguine that has mushrooms & clams (my wife opted out on the clams) and really loved it. I tried it and it is really good! I got the manicotti and it was really good and the sauce delicious! We'll be back!

Ordered pizza, but the cheese wasn't thick like I was used too. I usually recommend Filipi's to people and tourists by describing it as pizza you need a fork to eat. The pizza was still good, but about what you would expect from a decent pizzeria. Nothing special. Without the trademark cheese that needs a fork and knife, I'm not sure I'll order from Filipi's instead of another pizzeria.Edit: The staff here reached out to me and the manager gave me a free pizza to make up for the first one. Excellent customer service!

The service is fast and friendly. The pizzas come with tons of cheese. They put all their toppings underneath the cheese. The ambience is calming and relaxing. We loved the chicken Parmesan sandwich, the pasta with meat sauce and the pizzas and bbq chicken wings! Can't wait to go back

Filippi's Pizza Grotto Kearny Mesa is a nice little gem! The portions are incredibly generous, perfect for sharing or taking leftovers home. The food is delicious and very affordable, especially considering the amount of food you get. Plus, there's ample parking available, making it a breeze to get in and out. I highly recommend this spot for a casual and satisfying Italian meal! We tried wings, pizza, salad, lasagna, and more. They were all good!
