Excellent food all around - even the kids burger and fries were substantial. Our server was very attentive! Highly recommend
It is a great spot for good food and people-watching. The pitcher of margarita was really good
Honestly, if you want some good Mexican food laid-back with great views this is the place to be. We love coming to Fred's when we are in Old Town. Great value and great food. Even the dogs have a menu!!!
Went here for the first time, also have never being to Old town and we enjoyed it very much. The food was well worth the money and I enjoyed the atmosphere. The waiters were also super friendly. Definitely would come back !
Definitely glad we made reservations! It was Christmas night and super busy! Our server was great. Food was good, got a Carnitas taco and it was gushy and had no pork taste. We decided it was pot roast not carnitas! Very disappointed. The white rice was interesting, never seen that at a Mexican restaurant before. Beans were good. The other taco I had was delicious! I think it was called the Gringo. I will go back just for that taco!! Overall it was a good night! We will be back
We were very happy with our meal there. We sat by sidewalk and it was pretty and warm with the fires. The food was great! The service was also amazing:)
$2.95 for chips and salsa after your first basket. This has been my to go place since 2007, but seems like the food has taken a step back and the portions are smaller than before. Going to find a new go to place when visiting San Diego.
We made last minute reservation and enjoyed a quiet lunch. We have always like going to Fred's as it is a festival environment and fun to be there and hear the music and laughter of others. This time it was quiet due to it being a Monday afternoon and not much going on in the area. The food was very tasty and service great. And it was pleasant and relaxful to enjoy lunch in the unusual quiet environment . DJ
Fantastic!
We visited Fred's on Sunday evening (29th Sept) for dinner and it exceeded our expectations. There may be more renowned establishments in Old Town but I can guarantee you that none are any better.
The outdoor area is bright and appealing, the service is first class and the food was outstanding (and much less expensive than most other restaurants in the area.
Much credit must go to Maria - our hostess. She was amazing - attentive, friendly and professional (many thanks Maria from the old Aussies!).
This is a great venue and highly recommended.

Took the granddaughters to lunch prior to the play at the Cygnet - nice walk to restaurant and the staff were attentive and the food excellent. Such a lively fun place to have lunch prior to Rocky Horror!!

The only bad meal I've had in the area so far. I ordered an extra spicy Bloody Mary and it basically tasted like tomato juice and water. I had the breakfast burrito with Chorizo and eggs. Chorizo has great flavor but the burrito was mostly tortilla and fries. Now I understand why the place across the street was absolutely packed and this place was empty. Bartender was friendly and discounted my burrito.
