There aren't many BBQ places downtown, but Gaslamp BBQ is a great place to choice.

Polite and attentive service. The tri tip sandwich was very dry and did not have much flavor. The bread was also stale. My friend had the burger which he said was good.

This was such a let down. The atmosphere and service is great and welcoming. I started worried since around 530-6pm only one other group came into eat. Food came out fast but man o man what a let down. The tri tip to serve is chopped like it belongs on a sandwich. Sliced like old deli meat and had the consistency of rubber. The ribs tasted like they were prepared 3 days ago and reheated in a microwave with bbq sauce put on top. Judging by the taste and texture I would guess them to be boiled. The only flavor was in the bbq sauce on top. The plate is served with sauteed peppers and onions which would be a great touch if they didnt taste like they were cooked on a dirty flat top.The onion rings were the only enjoyable thing. On the topic of dirty the silverware is stored on the tables in a container lined with holes. Just thinking of people eating around a table with my silverware stored for who knows how long is pretty gross to me. Plate had generous offerings but I left hungry since I couldn't eat more then a taste of this terrible bbq that has never even touched fire.

Waitress was good didn't like the food at all
Great food! Grateful atmosphere, friendly staff and reasonable prices. If you're not looking for food you can just sit at the bar and have a drink. They have a nice variety of local beers. Great place to sit and watch a game too.
Indoor and outdoor seating is available.

Been coming here for years now and this is one of my favorite places in San Diego. The food is amazing. The service is great. And they actually have decent prices for shit! Jesse and Adam are two of my favorite people ever. I wish everyone in the service industry was like them, if you go to Gaslamp barbecue you won’t be disappointed. If you are, you probably suck.

I went for lunch and tried the tri-tip, but I was not impressed. It was bland and undercooked, with a strange texture. I've had better tri-tip elsewhere. The fries very cold and stale.

You're here for the convention, you're exhausted, it sounds like a good idea, it ain't. Comicon attendees beware. I've had better bbq in smokers made from file cabinets and trash cans. Don't make this mistake.

The tri tips are unseasoned roast beef slices. Don’t waste your money run someplace else fadt
Maybe it was an off day, but if you know what BBQ should taste like and get what we got, you'll be really disappointed.
