Pretty good. Service a bit slow, but fresh is more important. Great rolls and quality.

5/5 after you visit this place all other sushi places feel mediocre. Great food, great atmosphere and reasonable prices. After few visits I can now say that Genki Sushi is my favorite sushi restaurant in San Diego. Good job 👏🏻

The sushi is delicious, everything we got s was good. The service was not good. Our waitress rushed us, it felt like all she wanted to do was turn the table. We were there for my dad’s birthday and we were not in a hurry but she picked up our little paper with some orders on it before we were finished picking what we wanted. We wanted to order more and she never brought our menu back, we had to ask for it and she said “I thought you were done”. It was comical actually how bad her service was. I’d go back for the food but would never sit at that waitresses table again. I didn’t her name but you’ll know who I’m talking about if you get her.

Food was great, thou the serving size for the edamame left much to be desired. The fish was of good quality. Much pricier then anticipated.

This is our first time here since the new ownership. We love the tables and the atmosphere here. Everyone is extremely nice and the owner is really funny guy! We had teriyaki steak with salad and rice. Meat was tender and great flavor. The other dish was teriyaki chicken also great flavor. Tempura was crispy and the miso soup very tasty.!

This restaurant was previously Akai Hana and the new owner not only kept a lot of their menu, which is awesome. He really stepped it up and made it a lot nicer so for me the change was good.

Expensive, not great quality.
Maybe it was just a bad day but I felt like it was not worthy the money.

Absolutely phenomenal sushi experience. Every piece of nigiri came topped with fresh wasabi and thick, juicy cuts of high-quality fish. The freshness was unreal. I tried Uni for the first time here and it was mind-blowingly delicious. Creamy, rich, and briny in the best way. The yellowtail and tuna toro are absolute must-tries. Melt-in-your-mouth perfection.
The atmosphere was great, and super fun but not rowdy or loud. It did get very busy around 7:30. This place is a gem and so glad we found it.

This was my second visit to this sushi restaurant, and I want to make it clear that these three stars go entirely to the sushi bar — to the chef behind the counter who is kind, professional, and extremely skilled. The sushi itself is fresh, beautifully made, and clearly prepared with care. He alone is the reason I came back.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the service staff, particularly the woman who seats and serves guests. On our first visit, we were greeted with a cold, unwelcoming attitude. Anytime I asked about an item on the menu, I was told it would “take too long,” even for simple requests. I placed my order anyway, but her energy made the whole experience feel tense and uninviting.

Our second visit was even worse. When we asked for water, she didn’t serve it — she simply slammed the pitcher on the bar next to me, my son, and his friend. Later, when a dish came out from the kitchen — meant for my son’s friend sitting directly across from me — I let her know it was for him, but instead of handing it to him, she just dropped it in front of me and walked away.

The quality of the food and the sushi chef's professionalism are the saving grace of this restaurant. But I hope the owner or management takes a serious look at the service. One team member with a bad attitude can ruin what others work so hard to build. Again, the 3 stars are strictly for the sushi bar — not the host, not the kitchen staff, and definitely not the service.

Visited this restaurant during a business trip and was impressed by the professionalism and quality. The room is elegant, perfect for meetings or client dinners. The menu offers a nice balance between classic and contemporary dishes. I had the filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes, which was tender and flavorful. The service was discreet and efficient. Highly recommend for anyone looking to impress.
