Family run restaurant with the best dim sum we have found in San Diego. On Fridays they have live jazz from 6:30-8:30 PM. They also have a full bar. Worth a visit for sure. We come regularly.

Stopped by for dim sum. We went with the usual and I can say their dim sum were made fresh, not frozen, reheated and served. The dim sums were decent, the carts were bit slow, but if you ask the wait staff what you want, they will get it for you. Didn't have to wait, got seated right away.

Your typical dimsum parlor restaurant. Staff are eager to get your dishes pucked, perhaps a bit pushy. Average cost of about 7-8 per item selection costs.

Wow, what a great experience me and my family had here we tried a bunch of different stuff. That’s one of the reasons that I love them some is because you get to try a lot of different things as you can see if my pictures we didn’t hold back we tried a little bit of everything. It was all fantastic nice clean, and a very cool atmosphere.

This is more so a 3.5/5 for me (never understood why Yelp doesn't allow for half star ratings lol). So it's no secret that San Diego seriously lacks options for it's dimsum game--especially the cart options. There are a handful of options where dimsum can be ordered menu-style, but other than Golden Island, Jasmine Seafood and the newer Diamond Palace, options are limited. For Golden Island, I think they have the edge with the aesthetics. The table set-ups are nice and clean, plentiful seating, large bar area and stage for special events. Plenty and easy parking around, too. But enough of that...let's get to the food. Dimsum is always good here - they have my favorite shumai in SD as they are meaty and stuffed. They have all your dimsum staples - hargow, sticky rice, turnip cakes, steamed crepes, spareribs, chicken feet, etc. Beyond the steamed goodness, they have the baked items also (baked pork buns are a must), fried items (shrimp balls!) and of course roasted options such as duck and bbq pork. We've also ordered from their regular menu and although prices are a bit on the higher side, the food is good and in decent portions. A work in progress in this place is the staff. There always seem to be a good amount of staff working, but for some reason they are so hard to wave down. What I've noticed on several occasions here is that servers tend to single out the bigger tables and sometimes ignore the tables with just 2-4 people. I get that the tip MIGHT be more for larger parties, but it's no reason to ignore the other patrons.

Dim sum have became incredibly over priced. It's not the casual dinning option it used to be. Be prepared to spend >$40 each.

Golden Island is stealing money from their customers. Had a large party for CNY this morning. Our waiter tried to add two extra dishes onto our order, resulting in roughly $20 extra dollars. Manager didn't even argue when I called them out. Make sure you take a photo of your dim sum count. I've brought my family here many times over the years, both at Fung Fung Yuen and now Golden Island. I wonder how many times they've stolen money out of my pocket. WILL NEVER RETURN. THEY ARE THIEVES.

Every year we make reservation for Lunar New Year brunch with our staff here so they can experience our culture. It's very disappointing to show up 15 minutes early for a 10:30 reservation (which we made 3 weeks early and confirmed 3 days prior) and was told we have to wait because other people also have reservation. What's the point of making reservations if you don't honor it. The new owner needs to learn how to run the business before they lose their weekly customers like us.

Went last Friday to check out the band Judy and the Tramps first time seeing them and The band was great. Very soulful. Great to dance to on the tiny dance floor. The restaurants ambiance was ok. I felt like I was walking into a wedding reception the way they have it set up and decorated. The food was good but nothing special. Service was quick to take our order but towards the end our waiter disappeared for quite some time. We had to ask another server for our check. I will go back due to the live music and the dance floor. Recommend!

I was unhappy to this restaurant. Because I bought 2 cups of beer, they charge me extra $4.00 without asking. If you plan to visit here to eat, please check your receipt before you pay. Otherwise they have the hidden fees you don't know about.

So the food here is so so bad. No flavor, kung pao chicken tasted so bad.House special Fried rice was made with old bbq pork, some egg and3 pieces of shrimp. Fried calamari was so oily tasting, honey bbq pork chop taste of sugar only. All portions are small but way over priced. Keep your money and go to the Panda Express or Pick up Stix which would taste better than this restaurant.

BEWARE of your bill or you'll be charged for items you didn't order!!! That's what happened to my family in law when they dined there last week. After they were done eating there one of the family members took a picture of the paper where the servers circled the items that they ordered before they took it to the register for the total of the bill. When they came back with the amount the family member noticed something was not right so he asked to see the paper and compare it to the one they took a picture of earlier. To their surprise 4 more circles were added!!! They complained to the manager and only offered BUNS to take home!!!!
