Steak was great. Cooked as ordered and tender. Asparagus was also good. Service was great and our drinks were always being attended to. However, the salmon was dry along with the mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts cold. It's like the kitchen couldn't time everything to be done at the same time.
We first dined at Greystone in May 2024, 5 of us enjoyed a lovely meal, food was great, steaks superb and the service spectacular. Hence our eagerly anticipated return visit for my wife's brother's 70th birthday. This visit, frankly, was disappointing. The crabcakes were very good and the calamari nicely prepared and tasty. However, my wife's lamb chops were overcooked and had very little flavor. My bone-in filet was equally disappointing. Ordered medium rare, was closer to medium, and devoid of flavor. A little sinewy, it did not cut as a filet should. My brother-in-law and his friend shared the elk chop which they said was fine, although it arrived with a foreign object on the plate. To their credit, the owner did apologize and took $50 off our bill. Our server was nice and tried to be accommodating, but we certainly weren't overwhelmed. Greystone has been recognized by those in the know as a top steakhouse in San Diego and California. Unfortunately, they fell short on this visit. When next in San Diego, we hope a return visit to Greystone will mirror our May 2024 experience. Left wanting in Georgia . . .
Went to Greystone for a date night and wanting a really good steak dinner. While the reviews were good, my experience was extremely disappointing. The location: in a very dicey part of downtown San Diego. The ambience: Nice. The Food and Service: Probably the worst meal I have ever had at a "high end" restaurant. . Not upscale at all. The meal: Probably the worst meal I've ever had at a high end rated restaurant. It was a very quiet night... ,maybe 5 other tables. The service was slow and inconsistent. Ordered sparkling water with limes and a glass of ice. They brought the water but no ice or limes ( took 3 times of asking to get those items). We ordered a New York and the Seabass with truffle fries and asparagus for sides. They brought the Salmon instead of Seabass. The food arrived cold, except for the steak. The plates were cold as well. They took the food back and left the steak. So my husband and I couldn't even eat together while I waited for the correct warm food to arrive. When the second round of food arrived, it was still cold. The steak was moderate at best. The Seabass was just okay. For the prices ($70 steak and $58 Seabass) , I expect a much higher level of service and quality. Very disappointing meal and experience. This place may have been great at one time but it has very much slipped in quality. Will not recommend or return.
This was a dinner date for my birthday celebration. The service was exceptional. They set up our table with flower petals and all.
Lovely restaurant right in the middle of everything fun. Delicious food and fabulous service from Frenchie.

Great dining experience start to finish. Manny greeted us by name as soon as we walked in the door (he actually pays attention to the Open Table profiles). Great cocktails served quickly. Krista is a polished, knowledgeable, and professional server. A real joy to have at our table! Steaks were perfect, as were the sides. Parking is an issue as it is in the Gaslamp district, but well worth it.
Brian did an outstanding job last night for my family. He was knowledgeable and took care of all of our needs! He made the evening perfect! Food was GREAT!
The steak was great, but everything else was mediocre at best. The sea bass entree was not as described: the texture/appearance was like boiled fish, and the mushrooms called for in the description were absent. The cheesecake dessert was soggy like a several day old supermarket dessert. Service was decent, although I could have done without the waiter making "cute" comments at every visit. Disappointing overall..
Excellent service from “Frenchie” as he called himself. Amazing steaks cooked, exactly as requested.
