Hakamaru is my absolute favorite sushi restaurant outside of Japan. The fish is fresh daily, the specials are amazing, food quality is always great, staff and service are excellent.*Shout-out to Stelle!!* I highly recommend the tempura veggie and shrimp combo, as well as the udon, and any nigiri orders. Do not sleep on this restaurant. 10/10.

A moody Japanese restaurant in the suburbs. Food was great - the hamachi carpaccio was lovely. Enjoyed the spicy garlic edamame and gyoza. Chicken curry was also good, chicken was quite tender.
They have a wonderful later happy hour (7:30-9pm) from Monday to Thursday. Which is different from most restaurants where IMO it’s absurdly early (3-5).
Look forward to another visit to try other menu items and that earl grey crème brûle a lot of people seem to post about!

Wow. Very disappointed, and I probably won’t be coming back after my experience tonight. This was always one of my favorite sushi spots in 4S, and they refused service at 8:59 when they close at 9:30. A male member of the team said “I don’t know about your clock, but mine says 9:03.” His coworkers seemed uncomfortable as well. I showed them my phone and it was 9pm on the dot. Very rude, especially when most of the restaurant was empty. Also, they were still available for pickup but did not offer that as a solution. Save yourself from disappointing service ans go elsewhere.

Update june 28: stella the server - horrible attitude. came at 11:23 looks like restaurant is open, but they’re not seating yet. Stella said to wait until 1130. come 1130. She wants to sit me in the corner half close by the wall in an empty restaurant. I asked her to be seated at another table cause I’m gonna quickly eat and be gone in 15 minutes she says no there’s no one in the restaurant. So I left. - lost business. Too bad because their food is really good…
Start tip options at 20% and goes up from there. Dont like it. Start at 15 or 18 at least. Provide great service and people to be more than 20%. Also tried to come and give them business during lunch and order over the phone to dine in to save time so i don’t wait. Stella - the server said she wont do that. No reason. The restaurant only had one table taken when I came in. Too bad they can’t do it. I won’t be coming in during lunch and most of the time I am in a rush when I’m at lunch and I do order good amount of food probably $60 or so for lunch.

Incredibly delicious, authentically-prepared with the high quality ingredients...what a wonderful dining experience! Transported us back to Kyoto...esp the takowasa! Totemo Oishī!!! Some of the mouthwatering dishes we enjoyed_wagyu nigiri, yellowtail belly, Luna lemon roll, grilled hamachi collar 🤤🤤🤤 Many thanks to Ashley for being so friendly and for the wonderful customer service! The fish was excellent quality. It was quiet and nice, the anime fighting montage on the TV was enjoyable and for me, unique. The cucumber and seaweed salads were a little lacking in flavor but that was really the only knock.

Tried out this place and we’re not disappointed! The amount of rice in each roll is minimal, literally one rice layer! There’s more fish in rolls than rice. And the servers are extremely nice!

Came by on a Friday evening after running some errands. Ordered the hamachi hiro, chef selection, and the pasta. Everything tasted fresh. Pleasantly surprised by how nice everything was and tasted in the suburbs will be coming back!
