Happy Chef is a family-run Italian and Greek eatery tucked away in Rancho Bernardo and a fantastic place to enjoy comforting food with family and friends.

🍕 The 14” margherita pizza with two sunny-side-up eggs was excellent. The thin, chewy crust traces back to owner George’s award-winning high school pizza recipe, and the fresh tomatoes, basil, and sauce made each bite bright and flavorful.

🥙 The chicken and beef/lamb gyro plate came with a crisp salad, warm pita slices, and rice. The chicken was especially tender and juicy.

🍰 To finish the meal, the chilled walnut and pistachio baklava was a standout with its sweet, nutty flavors.

Portions were generous, pricing was reasonable, and the service was warm and welcoming. Special thanks to George for the gracious hospitality.

There is plenty of free parking and a comfortable, covered outdoor patio for dining.

Tip: After turning into the business center at the stoplight, the restaurant is located in the far back left corner of the complex.

A great local spot for casual meals, family dinners, or anyone craving fresh Italian-Greek comfort food.

I had an amazing time dining at Happy Chef. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles and provided attentive, friendly service throughout the meal.

The food was the real standout — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish tasted like it was made with care. Portions were generous without feeling overwhelming, and the menu had a great variety to choose from.

I especially loved how quickly everything came out and how clean and comfortable the dining area was. It’s clear the team here takes pride in what they do.

Whether you’re stopping by for a casual bite or a full meal, Happy Chef is absolutely worth the visit. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I love eating here, the food is amazing. Currently obsessed with the chicken bowl they have, so good. Also, some of the best hummus I've ever eaten! The service is truly phenomenal, the owner is very kind and welcoming. Highly recommend!

My girlfriend and I absolutely love the Greek food here at The Happy Chef. We’ve enjoyed both the Pepper Chicken and Gyros plates, and they never disappoint. The hummus, Greek salad, and desserts are truly amazing — my girlfriend even exclaimed, “WOW, DELICIOUS!” It’s clear this is one of our favorite restaurants to visit. On top of that, the owner is fantastic — personable, friendly, welcoming, and an incredible chef. Highly recommend!

Awesome, delicious food! We all had 3 different Greek entrees & I would rate it as one of the best, tastiest Greek restaurants in SD County. George, the owner is so friendly & very accommodating. We WILL definitely be back!

The owner is a fantastic guy. It's carry out though they were getting an outdoor area set up. He's had a catering company for over 20 years and decided he may as well open for the public. I'm glad he did!!

George's food is always SOO fresh and delicious! The rice bowl is my recent favorite, but the gyro pita sandwich, all the pizzas, and salads are very good as well. Portions are generous and George is the nicest man! I always ask for extra sauce (hot and wild.. yum!) and he always hand delivers to my desk next door. Highly recommend!

Great pizza!!It's hard for me to find a place that has good pizza, since I moved I found this place and now whenever I think of a place to eat out I come here!!!

Greatest place alive for a Greek style burrito or anything u can ever imagine .. George(owner/chef)is the uncle I want cooking every damn day
