I ordered today over the phone “El Cubano” Sandwich, they should change the name to “El Balsero Sandwich” because it was Tiny about 6” long and about a 1” thickness must of it bread that was not even Cuban Bread, they included some soggy plantain chips not even fresh.
I’m Cuban and I know my sandwich.
They were not fresh because it took me about 10 minutes to get to the place from the time that I ordered to pick up and they didn’t even added the garlic sauce that goes along with the plantains.
The price for these food outrageous $20. I had better sandwiches here in San Diego in other places like in Ocean Beach if you guys know the place.
They say they’re transparent with the prices but when they show you the price on their computer monitor for you to pay it doesn’t show you that they’re going to charge you 3.5% for package and handling takeout. That’s another heating fee that they don’t tell you about.
She would’ve listened to my conscience. I never order from that place again last time was in 2019 next time will be never.

Got the Cuban hot sandwich, Bavarian cream cake & an iron beer. Everything was delicious, the sandwich was rich with lots of meat & flavor, crispy bread & the garlic butter/oil was yummy. The Bavarian cream cake was delicious, not too sweet (there was an odd flavor in the round thin piece but otherwise everything tasted great. Washed it all down with an iron beer. The place is ridiculously cute! It's an outdoor feel, inside & the staff is all dressed in uniform with cute hats. They were all very pleasant & friendly. Prices are fair for the qualityIt's Located in a giant Plaza with plenty of parking
We come here at least once a week, and it's always consistently excellent. I usually go for the sandwiches (my favorite is the Hot Cuban), but their plates are great as well. We also often come here just for an afternoon coffee: their cafe con leche is delicious! Great food, really nice staff, just an all around great restaurant!

We got a lechon plate, arroz con pollo and 2 beef empanadas for $70 with tip. The food was terrible. The lechon plate was $21 and the portions were small. I switched the plantains to yuca fries and I only got 2 individual fries. The lechon was dry and they gave you this oil to moisten it and the oil was hurting my throat. My husband’s chicken tasted old. It’s way too expensive to serve food that isn’t even that good. We left and went somewhere else anyway. It was a waste of food, time and money.

Please be aware that even with the new higher prices, this establishment also adds 2.5% to each bill as a service change.
I met my husband and a friend here for dinner, mid May 2025. My husband had already scoped out the place and someone from the staff told him the menu prices had been raised and to use prices on the board above the ordering section; I came later and did not get that warning. When I ordered for us and got the receipt, I was shocked at the amount. Prices were $3 to $5 higher per item than on the menu! When I complained, the staff stood firm, saying I had been told (I had not). When I asked why they didn't just dump the old menus or cross out the old prices, I got a blank stare. So I threatened a bad review and retreated. A few minutes later the manager came out and told us we had to leave. He explained that he had called the owner to see if he could do anything for us, but she said to refund our money and tell us to leave. Hospitality in Cuba must be a little different than in San Diego. We had a great meal in a restaurant in Convoy, so things always seem to work out!

I came here with my husband and MIL for dinner- firstly I was impressed by the decor, but I was also surprised at the ordering format. It would make sense to have a Chipotle-style walk-up line at restaurant with a limited menu, but we were given no time to be able to browse before being ushered into the end of the line to make our choices. Because we had no time to read the menu, the gentleman with yellow tinted glasses behind the counter asks us what we would like for our sides but we are not sure what the sides are. My MIL asks because she is elderly and cannot read the menu, and the employee pointed to the menu behind him and said “you can read them behind me on the screen” in a rather dismissive way. So my husband and I then look to the menu and try to help her. The attendant then asked if we wanted any drinks and very briefly described that they had some happy hour options and named a handful of drinks. I asked him what the actual special was, but he gave me a baffled look and said “it was everything I just mentioned” and moved on. Obviously I’ll have to sit down and figure this out myself. So after we choose a spot to sit at, I tried to visit their website to look at the happy hour section. This at least provided the information I was looking for- $4 off certain cocktails- including a “Havana margarita”. My husband tries to find a waitress to order a drink, and when he asks her (mistakenly calling it a Cuban margarita), she tells him they don’t serve margaritas there. She says she can make a mojito because it’s the other “M” drink. So we end up with a mojito, which was well made, but certainly lessened by the condescending attitude we received. The food overall was good, but as a first time customer walking into a business, I was shocked at the indifference with which we were treated and was maybe just hoping for a little bit of empathy for someone who doesn’t know the protocol there. They were not busy and only had a few patrons inside, otherwise we would’ve more-so understood wanting to rush us through the process without properly explaining anything. It just immediately put a huge damper on what was supposed to be a enjoyable experience celebrating my MIL. None of us appreciated being spoken to as if we were stupid and inconsiderate, we simply needed help from people who’s job it is supposed to be to help us. For that reason I will be unlikely to return. This place would be much more user-friendly with a traditional waitstaff, and preferably one that treats their customers with respect and understanding.

A rated atmosphere 3 stars because I expected salsa music 🎵 to be a bit louder. This time was really very low. Latin environment is supposed to be very festive at all times.
